I'm pretty sure they worked harder on weapon balance from 3 onward to avoid the Metal Blade situation in future games. I mean, how many people even know that Wood Man's actual canon weakness is Atomic Fire? And knowing that would still change nothing because Metal Blade is both super-effective and spammable.

I've always thought that Mega Man 3 had the most interesting boss weaknesses. Mainly because instead of one big circle of weaknesses, you have two circles. Meaning you'll always have to overcome at least two robot masters using the Mega Buster, instead of only one. Making for a bit more of a challenge when you already know the weaknesses, and also making for a bit less of a linear progression through the game, rather than just picking the easiest guy and then going in weakness order from there through the remaining seven.

@@keaton5101 I know that because I always go for quick boomerang early, it's a ridiculously good weapon in itself. It uses very little ammo, you get it back if you miss and catch it and it is stronger than the mega buster. then again, I never play on easy so... you know.
