Last story - How do you gamble with your food and then get mad at the other person for not sharing when you get a bad roll? The girlfriend needs to see the humor in the situation and eat the L (literally), or maybe stop gambling on FOOD. That alone boggles my mind. Story 1: OP is awesome here. As a person who has been in professional kitchens for 20+ years, i can tell you that cooks/chefs absolutely hate bosses/managers like this one. Glad that the OP got this guy demoted and took over his position. That guy had no business being in a kitchen much less supervising one. Story 2: Ugghh, more stories of idiots being in a seat they aren't supposed to be in on an airplane. What the hell is wrong with people? The moment someone refuses to show their boarding pass, they should immediately be thrown off of a flight as far as i'm concerned. Story 3: Yeah, i wouldn't want that Karen working there either. Terrible first impression and terrible attitude. Story 4: Yea the OP's dad is a big jerk here. Favoritism towards the younger brother and not knowing how to raise a daughter are bad enough, but to demand the OP's savings, and multiple times is just wrong. At least the mom had enough scene to tell the dad no. Hopefully the OP can move out of there and soon. Story 5: Yeah, OP is by no means a jerk here. If anything, the BIL and SIL are the jerks. They intentionally make fun of the OP all the time, exclude him from any kinds of roles at the wedding and are overall unkind to him... why should he remotely want to take more then half a day off for the wedding and subsequent events. They should feel lucky that the OP is going at all really. Good thing the OP's wife is on his side too, or all of this could've gotten very ugly. Story 6: This 'surprise bag' app sounds rather interesting. Anyone know what it is? Anyways, OP is not a jerk here. OP offered to get her BBQ from the beginning and to get something else for her after she didnt like her "surprise" soup. Beggars can't be choosers here, broken leg or not. You get what you pay for. OP really has no obligation to share his dinner with her. Its really just a case of soup grapes here on the gfs part.

Personally, I love soup, so I might ask for a small piece of the barbecue as an additive, but otherwise I'd just enjoy the soup. And I agree, that grab bag app sounds awesome. There's so much food waste from restaurants (especially buffets) that having a marked-down bag of random foodstuffs is a great idea. Better than just throwing it out, and the restaurant would still make money.

My first management job, I was 19 years old. I'd been working since I was 16 at a regular job; babysitting since I was 12. Found out one of the reasons I was promoted to buyer/assistant manager was because nobody else was dumb enough to take it; but I needed the money. Left that company, next company only volunteered for a lead position, and a trainer. Couple years later, and was asked if I wanted to train to be a manager... Um...No. been there, done that, and I'm older and wiser now. Management rolls are for the young and naive; too much work and responsibility, not enough reward. Well except for the general managers of Walmarts, they make 6 figures, and don't repair the broken equipment employees need to use to do their jobs, then yell that the jobs aren't done. I guess for every penny they don't spend on repairs, they get to keep it. So if your local store looks like ick, the floors aren't clean, bathroom is nasty, complain to the corporate office. 🤣🤪 Make them spend that money! And hire enough people to get the work done. (My store tried making 12 people do the work of 50. Nearly killed my friend too.) Managers aren't always an older person... Don't “ass-u-me”. 👵☮️🖖

The first guy sounds like the managers we had at the State College, PA Post Office. They would question you every time you went to the restroom. They would follow you to the restroom and question you as you came out. They stopped that when we would tell them, ""I was taking a shit." Then they told us we had to wait for our break to use the restroom. That lasted less than a day. Then they told us that travel time to and from lunch, and wash-up time, was included in our 30-minute lunch break. Many of the carriers were 10-15 minutes away from a restroom meaning that they had no time left to eat. They told us that if we needed to use a restroom we should ask a customer if we could use their bathroom. It was a constant struggle dealing with these nitwits.

The story with the girl that was asked to give her savings to her younger brother: Sorry but no. The father is a crappy father and he should be ashamed to treat his kid this way. Asking her for her money to treat her brother to a new instrument? Really? That is his responsibility as a father. And are you really excusing him by saying he treats his girl badly because "he is used to having boys"? Really? There is a really simple solution: The father should start saving (or, I don't know, take a loan?), Sell his son's old instrument and buy him a better instrument. This way he is treating both kids fairly, since it is not the daughter's fault that the parents decided to give her a good instrument from the beginning but not the son. She should not have to pay the difference back, because essentially that is what the father is asking her to do.

The dad who showed preference to the younger brother just because he was only raised with boys is BS! My dad was also only raised with boys AND raised by an authoritarian father and he ALWAYS stepped up for his daughters. When my Girl Scout leaders stole our money and ran off nobody else would step up to lead the troop and my dad knew it was important to me so HE stepped up and led the troop for a while, even enduring the sideways looks because he was a man leading a Girl Scout troop. He later worked with my brothers scouting troops too. Yes, he was a little more awkward with me, but he never made me feel like I was less.

For the last story I could picture a good-sized plate with the listed food but the meat 1 or 2 pieces each, depending on the sized of each meat. The girlfriend is being petty because she got something not to her liking. I see her eat all of op's food if he did say yes. I know what a BBQ plate looks like and I could see that he could offer 1 piece of meat but that wouldn't be enough and then both parties would suffer more than just 1 person then they would waste some more money anyway. At least op tried to give her another option. 2 in fact. Back n-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, she wants to be a petty bitch about it. And don't give me the whole "she has a broken leg so you should feel sorry" bull. I twisted my ankle and took a month to heal and close to half a year for me to walk and then run properly. For the OP, your girlfriend is down on her luck, she doesn't have a lot of money, shes on a lean and her leg is broken, her cars broken, and you live on the 4th floor with no elevator, she's not in a good position right now, you should help here.
