My first thought was to add an extension-jack to the jack, which would make the jack itself a little longer. and your problem would be solved

Yeah, I guess I just didn't want this long thing sticking out of my bass but thx! Appreciate it.

Why does it drop out live? Is it because it's on the 2.4GHz network, which is also used by cell phones, so it's a crowded network and therefore you get drop outs and interference?

Hey Neil, Thats a good question that I don't have the answer to, it may just have one channel to work off of while more expensive systems have 2 along with more sophisticated electronics. It doesn't drop out alot but just once is not acceptable for me. I really never got too deep into the technology of what makes them tick.

Why would you even modify the instrument when you could just run a PL female to PL male cable? Jesus man

Hey Jay, You are absolutely right, that would be the best way to go for most. It wasn't an issue with my Ibanez, its an inexpensive bass that I bought used and really wasn't like a big mod. I've done quite a few major modifications to some of my older basses over the years so this was really not a big deal for me but for those of you who are reading this, if your bass is very valuable or beautiful, better go with what Jay suggested, Thanks Jay, good call!

Hi, I'm having the same problem connecting a wireless system to a bass - it won't fit due to the shape of the area surrounding the output jack. I'm using active pickups so the wireless transmitter and receivers have 1/4 inch TRS connections on them. What is a PL female to PL male cable? Is that a male TRS to female TRS connection? I can't find anywhere that sells them, where do you get them?
