I personally find the docking points on OFF for puzzles to be... a decision. Not that I disagree with the idea that the puzzles are difficult, I just feel that OFF is meant to have that puzzle game aspect to it; it's apart of the game's core. Is taking notes for puzzles in a puzzle game necessarily a bad thing? I wouldn't say so; just look at a game like Animal Well (which, granted, does puzzles 100x better than off but I digress). I DO agree that the battle system is very not good and I really hope that the new switch remaster's battle system is more engaging.

@papyrusse. In my opinion one shot is far more creative and special than coffin of andy and leyley. The story is so simple on the surfice but the way that you learn about it is so interesting and creative. The coffin of andy and leyley just doesnt do anything new or special, its just a good game at best. And I also think that its narrative is all over the place, kind of feels like the creator only had an idea on how to star it and then he just went along with whatever came up to his mind

And keep in my mind that the 2 first chapters available is only a little bit of what the game will be, 1 of the 2 route in chapter 3 is already 2 times longer than chapter 1 and 2 together (and there will be a chapter 4)

@@papyrusse. I dont know if you played through the intire game, but torwards the end it becames very interective with the player in a lot of cool ways that just makes you invested in the story. But if you desagree thats fine, its just my opinion. And I'm not saying that the coffin of andy and leyley is bad or anything, i think its good and it has some good ideas, but for what it is i just dont think it should be up there with some of the other games. Also not a big fan of releasing games in chapters.

@@papyrusse. The Endless Empty, Wadanohara, Yume 2kki, and Grimm's Hollow are some of my favorites. Though Yume 2kki isn't really a conventional RPGmaker game. It's a casual exploration game with some horror elements depending on the area. YNOproject is easily the most accessible way to play Yume 2kki. It's constantly updated, has features not included in the base game, and it's played in your browser, so no need to download the whole game which has a pretty large download size.

@ you an interesting individual. anyways, even though i have only watched a breakdown(if i can call it that) of OFF i did enjoy the plot. Batter being a sort of twist villain is meh at best; even if you had already doubted him. i didnt follow OFF when it was pretty relevant, so im sort of blind to its shine. Coffin is a sort of dark comedy, it literally shows everything repulsive of characters and their relationships. it truly is a "fucked up story" and it excels at its depth and 3 dimensional characters (except for the dad, hes a sheet of paper). i had so much fun this story, from its dialogue, situations, characters, etc; i had so much much fun in vc with my friend just VAing over stuff. Coffin sure, is controversial and has a kinda small corner in the internet now, but its an amazingly handled story and im a sucker for basically its entire genre. coffin didnt have a cultural impact, at least from a positive perspective, but its an amazing story. once more, money well spent.

Yes, the game play isn't anything special but it's interesting seeing how messed up the main characters are. It deserves A tier for what it does.

The gameplay not being crazy doesn't mean anything, the gameplay isn't that important in that game, visual Novels have almost 0 gameplay (some have few choices to make that sometimes change the route/ending) yet there are still a lot of stunningly good visual Novels like Saya no uta or DDLC, tcoaal has a good plot, good character writing, cute artstyle, Amazing ost, cool ambiance... It's a good game, and the game including incest doesn't change a thing, yeah it's messed up, but incest being in the game doesn't mean the authors likes incest or think it's not wrong (lots think she does), the game tells it itself that incest is weird and wrong, the characters are fucking psycopaths and sociopaths who murder and eat people and yet some get angry at incest, lmao
