I think its safe to say that just about everything you’ll see on this video is history by now… again quality is a quarter century old but its good to see some of those airlines and airplanes again. Enjoy

JustPlanes Great compilation! It's not all history, 767 still flying, 747 flies cargo here, passengers in Europe, DC-10 still is flown by FedEx, 737 will outlive modern civilization...😉

DC-9's, DC-10's, 727-200's planes of my childhood on the 80's, million thanks for this tremendous video..!

But it seems that those FedEx DC-10s no longer retain the GE CF6-50 roars... At least that's how they sound to me through numerous plane spotting videos

This is the exact place and time when I started to fall in love with airliners. Logan was a smokey, filthy, loud place and it was magic.

It's amazing to see how many 747-300's, 200's and 200F's were in service not so long ago...it's remarkable too to see Boeing's dominance with so many 747 operators evident - the UTA DC10 was a treat, a real personal treat for me as was seeing the old Swiss Air colors and of course the L1011 and DC8 - great upload mate thank you!

Growing up in Massachusetts I always remember seeing the Aer Lingus 747-100 every time I went to Logan Airport. Love the memories.

As a former regular flyer on Olympic Airways, the livery seen on their 747 brings me back vivid memories. It was their best one, ever. Shame they reverted back to a boring blue with stripes only few years after this vid was taken. I do remember those 747s taking off from Hellinikon airport in Athens, it was simply amazing.

Aviation Spirit DC10, MD11, L1011 tristar and the 727 are the coolest looking planes other than the 747.

They really do, but sadly they aren’t very efficient or good for the environment, at least not as much as twinjets.

Listening to this, I believe this was recorded in STEREO! I distinctly get panning and sounds from different sides, along with wind buffeting in the ears when you listen to it on headphones. Today would you even be able to get such access at Boston or any major airport on the tarmac in today's safety climate? All the hallmarks of JustPlanes is in this video, even at this early stage! Thanks for posting, even if the quality less than stellar, it shows history in action!
@justplanes6 жыл бұрын
Very welcome Marcus and you're absolutely right, access like this is long gone... for us anyway however if you look at yesterday's you tube video of the same airport, the outside locations are very good for runway action... off course no more close ups on the ramp.

UTA went bust in 1992, right? Is the UTA at the end an un-repainted Air France or something else? Great video as always! Watching these vintage tapes and planes have always been the most satisfying thing! Got to love the roars of GE CF6-50s and the Sabena touchdown at first caught on vintage tape is the most beautiful thing ever!!

Love your videos on the older aircraft. Reminds me of my first flight by myself (age 14) on a B727 and B737-200, wish I could fly again on those aircraft (plus L1011) but can do without the smokers. Yes, I am that old I remember smoking on airplanes.

Got to love seeing the UTA plane aka - Unlikely To Arrive , and an Olympic plane too .
@that90skid726 жыл бұрын
"Unlikely to arrive" ? It was the best airline France had to offer at the time. It had the same level of cash flow as Air France, which had 5x its turnover. That alone says a lot on how badly AF was managed at the time, and how close it came to go bust. Exactly what happened to Olympic 16 years after this vid was taken.

GREAT VID AS ALWAYS!!! However, I'd like anyone to tell me what type of aircraft the Continental at the 8:30 mark is. It looked like an A300 but no wingtips, & it looks too tall to be a 767.

That is indeed an A300 B4 series which was super rare for Boston at the time.
