@Barstool Prophet Hey, just saw this. Ugh, this is hard. I’m a Gen Xer who had bunch of older cousins influencing my musical tastes, so, let’s see... Eagles, Greatest Hits...Thriller, MJ...Purple Rain, Prince...Rumors, Fleetwood Mac...Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morisette...oh, and I also love country. Bluegrass and southern gospel....so, Alison Krause + Union Station, Live (2002)... Best of the Gaither Vocal Band...Lynyrd Skynrd, Pronounced “Leh- nerd Skin-Erd”, and also Adele, Live at Royal Albert Hall...I guess that makes ten! If I had to live with those ten for the rest of my life, I’d say I’d do alright. How about you, my friend?!?

@Barstool ProphetOh, I’m with ya on lots of those. I love Yes, Kansas, Styx, and of course Led Zeppelin. It really is crazy hard to choose just 10. Funny how neither of us picked the Beatles. I like some of their songs, but for whatever reason, I just never got into the whole full on devotion thing. Maybe because they broke up before I was born, idk. If I could add one more it would be Journey, Escape. Don’t stop believing! Lol.

'What kind of song is this?' The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were a veritable cornucopia of musical styles and genres and a lot of bands that refused to be pigeonholed. I feel BLESSED to have grown up in that decade! In my humble opinion, corporations have taken mainstream music to a mundane, trite graveyard.

But you only get to make a huge first impression splash out of nowhere once - and no one could get enough Boston in the late 70’s. I still play them - they’re so good they’re timeless. Boston was great!! One of the best bands back then and I still - to this day - love to hear their music. The 70's absolutely had the best music - it's timeless! So wonderful the next generation is starting to appreciate it too. PLEASE ALSO REVIEW: "Do You Feel Like We Do" from Peter Frampton's 1976 'Frampton Comes Alive' album. This *audio only* live concert recording off this album is the BEST version to listen to if being introduced to this song for the first time. It's 14 minutes long but just keeps getting better with solos as you listen. It has over FOURTEEN MILLION views so there must be many others that still appreciate it. DON'T be tempted by the shorter video version first! He has also just been inducted into this year's 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Congratulations to him! He also seems like such a nice person.

You should also check out Rainbow w/ Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Another 70s band that is great. The song Stargazer is epic.

I was a Senior in High school when Boston released their first album . I remember pulling into work after school and it was on the Radio. I waited till the song was over, before going inside :)

For what it's worth, it occurred in the middle of the album but I saw them in 1977 in junior high after this album dropped and oh my God was it a good show. A small to medium-sized Arena and it just sounded so good and everything about it was incredible. Something that cracks me up is that your friend there, just superficially and from a distance, just somehow reminds me at a glance of Sib Hashian, who was the drummer. Take a look at one of the album photos and squint your eyes a little bit and see what you think. 😅

Another FYI. Tom Scholz invented that spacey sound effect, spaceship taking off sound and invented a lot of what guitarist use to this day. I was and still is a master craftsman!!!

It's a blend of prog, pop, classic, metal, orchestral -but each element is in synergy with the others to amplify the final experience into one that leaves listeners spellbound. I know I was when I first heard this when it first came out when I was 15. It's as fresh today as it was then. Music will NEVER let you down, NEVER fail you, NEVER betray you.

This is obviously one of the best first albums produced by any band ever I can name some equivalents but most people wouldn't have heard of them

Was so fortunate to grow up in a time of some of the best bands ever. One of the best concerts I saw too.

My 1st concert at Washington State University in 1978. Sounded freaking fantastic. They had just finished world tour and were so happy being back home, they played hard for almost 3 hours. We couldn't sleep that night from being hyped up. ❤

I was 5 or 6 when this album came out and it was huge and my dad always listened to it and this was one of my favorites from this album, so I’ve known this song forever and when I was in my later teens and started partying these songs we played all the time. So I’ve known this song all my life and have heard it a million times but it’s cool what u guys do cuz I don’t no what I would think of it if I was your guys age? U guys do it right and give the songs the proper listen and reaction. Who would of thought back in the day that these songs would live on and I wonder if bands from that time watch reactions to their songs like u guys do and just sit there a smile 😅
