Boston Whaler | Truly Unsinkable

For all the non believers or there, I have owed and operated a Boston whaler for 25 years and have truly witnessed an unsinkable boat. Boats that break loose from their moorings and crash on rocks from storms shouldn’t be able to float with holes and water logged hulls but whalers do. Greatest boats ever made, period.

My family had a 25 outrage and an 18 Montauk when I was a kid. Some kids found out we left the keys on the montauk at the marina and took it for a joyride, forgot to tie it up when they got back and it floated away. We got a call 6 months later from the police on Montauk Long Island saying the boat had washed up on shore. (We live in Old Lyme Connecticut) The boat had the lower unit ripped off, holes and gauges everywhere as it went through some pretty bad late fall and winter storms floating and running aground god knows where, and we towed it back across gardiners bay and long island sound still afloat. I've got a 25 Outrage and a 16' Dauntless now and will never get another brand of power boat.

Tom Fox I grew up on the 17 montuak, great boats but realized a deeper hull is the way to go. I own an 89 22 ft revenge same hull as outrage models but cabin up forward...

Boston Whalers are the best! I from the Mississippi coast and my Dad has a 170 Montauk. He lives on the bay and the boat stays up on his pier lift. A couple of years ago he was on vacation, out of the country, and the boat was left up on the lift but not tied to the pier. The worst part, the drain plug was not in! A huge storm came in and the water rose and took the boat off the lift and out into the bay. Needless to say the boat took on a lot of water but didn’t sink. A friend kayaked out to it and drove it back to the pier. I took the boat out yesterday and is still as good as new!

Yeah this test is totally rigged. It's hardly real-world conditions. Now I'm not at all saying they make a bad product, I don't believe that for a second. But this _demonstration_ pretty much tells us nothing.

Not necessarily. Boats don’t sink because of fire. Boats sink because of the water poured on them to extinguish the fire. So no, I doubt fire would sink it, also the fact it’s outboards kinda negates your statement.
