14:36 error in my editing, friends! When printing with the grass - I’m NOT letting the blue paint dry. 🤦‍♀️ The last pull is with wet paint. Going to see if I can fix the editing! (Also at 17:30)

Thank you for sharing your 'experimenting' with leaves and gel plate. I think for several of them a combination of cropping to make a piece of art and using the rest of the sheet for collage would work. I loved the effect of the grasses for texture.

Love all of your prints, esp the one with gold and red twig marks. I often lay leaves on black surface and pull with metallic silver, gold, etc, and these prints sell very well, people love them. I do 5x7 in 8x10 mat usually, black mats look great. I do keep a separate brayer for my black, which helps. Also found at end of last fall that if I paint both sides of leaves they tend to last thru the winter.

I think my favorite piece had the leaf prints on the gold background with the red from the sticks. That and some of the other prints would be beautiful if framed. I thought that was good use of a negative print with the hand pressed leaf impressions showing through. I will definitely be trying a similar version of the two prints described above. Great video. Printing with leaves is one of my absolute favourite things to do. Many of the prints make fabulous stand alone pieces of art and look great when framed. I also really like to preserve my favourite leaves by soaking them in 2:1 ratio of water to glyercine for a couple of days. You can then use them many, many times over.

Jennifer I definitely think that some of your work is already art ,I would frame it and hang it up especially the long grass one it's just beautiful , but don't just take my opinion and someone else and see what they say , I would put it in a bamboo frame it would look wonerful , and maybe you might just sell it because I'm sure it would sell , I definitely love your work , it reminds me of how I make my own papers , I a!so use deli paper , the unwaxed or waxed on one said that's what I use all the time and I also by a roll because it's more cost effective and use the unwaxed side , I subscribed to your channel because I want to see what you come up with next , your very charming to tell all your steps and show what you're using , that's a plus with me , I hate when people don't tell you what they're doing , well you take care Jennifer , I'll be watching ,can't wait for some more good stuff .my name is Linda Bailey Linda it says , and I'm 73 years old have been doing art my entire life , I love to be creative , there is nothing better for stress , continue to do it for the rest of your life , because life is art !

Love ALL of these If I HAD to pick favs, then the first pickup print, and the last two. That 2nd last one actually looks like you’ve used plaster or moulding paste in the white parts. And the last gold/red one -- swoon ❤️. When you were creating it I thought “no way those light layers are going to show up with that dark last colour” but it looks so rich - like tapestry. If I turned out anything with as much depth as you achieved, those puppies would go on the wall as art.

These are gorgeous, Jennifer! Leaves have always been very special to me & I love them in art, so this was really fun for me to watch! I like the ones with really strong & clear images of leaves best, even though those aren’t probably the most “artistic” ones! I also really like the ones with the grasses. I’d like to see you make a collage with these, or at least some of these, because I can’t quite visualize how this would look! I also think they would be good framed, but I don’t have much extra wall space left, so I’m not looking at them with that in mind. This was really fascinating to watch, I’m going to have to watch it a few more times to get the rhythm of the different layers that you created, because that’s kind of a jumble in my mind! I think I will understand the process better, when I actually try this myself!! Thanks so much! BTW, are you near where the tornado hit the other night? This tornado season has really started up fiercely given that it’s usually April-September that are the worst months. Stay safe & I know your studio is on the top floor, but don’t stay up there too long if those sirens start wailing!! Take care!

I don’t understand how you’ve been able to print the last 2 pieces letting the second layer (the one with the grass pattern) dry. How does a dry layer print?..🤔😳
@jennifertobinart
@jennifertobinart Жыл бұрын
Good question! So, a dry layer will not print on its own. But once you add a new layer of wet paint, then it will lift up multiple layers of paint, ideally everything that’s on the plate. So, letting one layer dry keeps it from being blurred or ruined - then add a new layer of paint (in a contrasting color) to pull up the print! Let me know if you try it 💕
@jillcww
@jillcww Жыл бұрын
I came here to ask the same question - because in the video there is no new wet layer of paint applied to the dry grass impression on the plate - we just see a previously made background page pressed on top of what appears to be dry paint. Was a transparent layer applied but edited out maybe?
