It's been a year since Saturu Iwata passed away and I still hate saying he's gone. Satoru Iwata was a great man who created many of the games that made many childhoods, reaching from 90's kids to teenagers like me who experienced some of his great works with the mother series and some of the Mario games. R.I.P Satoru Iwata you will be truly missed by all Nintendo fans including myself for generations to come. I only wish I could do more than write this paragraph, he deserves so much more than this but this is the best I can do. May he rest in peace.

The world really took a blow when Iwata died. He was only 55 when he passed. And to think there was a petition to cancel his new IP. My parents are just approaching the ripe age of 40. A few months ago, I lost my ma' to natural causes. Though we're a white family with a country-raised background, blasting Hip Hop, R n' B and Rap was one thing my mom loved the most. Needless to say, I wasn't ready for her passing. A few months later, and Mr. Satoru Iwata passes on and leaves behind a great legacy to follow. The lives he changed, the people who's lives he lightened up- we'll all continue to remember the adventures and teachings he gave us. It will still live on in all of us, just as my ma's teachings still live on through me. I like to imagine that someday, maybe in the far future, I'll see them at the crossroads. To think it's been 3 years since his passing... 3 years ago, Nintendo was on its last legs, their games weren't seen as great hits, the Wii U was only killing them more and more, and the 3ds sales were at the least acceptable, but they knew that they had one shot to fix themselves, Iwata, before his passing, helped early on the switch's development, and while no one knew it, Nintendo had one ace up it sleeve, even after the passing of one of their greatest men.. Iwata, thank you for everything. Man is iwata an unforgettable part of Nintendo. The number of quality he produced is outstanding and his mistakes made Nintendo a better company. Just look at the Wii U, a console that had quality but not quantity, but the switch shows what the Wii U could of been. Am I sad that the Wii U is one of Nintendo’s biggest flunks? Yes. Am I happy that iwata made it somewhat worthwhile? Hell to the yes. Iwata literally made me get a Wii U just for Mario 3D world and I don’t regret.

man, Iwata was an inspiration to pretty much everything, even his name was at the end of pretty much every single nintendo game you can count: Like when Link reunited the Triforce and won the hand of Princess Zelda, Iwata's name was there. When Ness defeated Gygas and saved the freaking world, his name was there. When Mario saved the princess from Bowser, his name was there. It's crazy how we overlook the amazing accomplishments and gifts of such an amazing person until they're gone... Iwata cut his pay to keep his staff, he programmed amazing games like Melee and Eartbound. Best of all, my passion came to be from his works, Paper Mario TTYD, Pokémon Platinum, Double Dash, Smash Melee, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Wind Waker and many more. When Satoru Iwata passed away, I had only heard of him through Pokemon and Earthbound. I looked into what else he worked on outside of Pokemon and Earthbound. I get pretty choked up when I think of the guy. I never met him or know him personally, but I respect him, even now even though he's no longer among the living. He helped create so many memories. I remember reading up o Earthbound, the second one, the only one that the US got way back on the Super Nintendo. There was a patching issue and it would have taken two years to get it patched. Satoru Iwata turned that two-year patching project into a six month patching project. We miss you, Mr. Iwata. I hope that you're able to see how much your work has made everyone happy and creating wonderful memories around them, sharing them with the world.
