Bots got Banned by VALVE!

Hi guys! SiN here with some interesting news from TF2! According to community posts and videos, Valve has responded to #FixTF2 movement and recently banned around 20000 bots. From my experience, casual mode has become much more playable. In 30 minutes of queuing in casual mode, I didn't encounter any bots. This makes me hopeful that Valve hasn't forgotten about our favorite game, Team Fortress 2. Let's see how the community reacts to this recent news!

Valve didnt do sh!t. There are two contractors hired by valve currently working on tf2. Their hands are tied, they cant do any major changes to the game. There is also a rumour that these bans were cooking for a long time, before fixtfw and even before save tf2. After all, there are 2 ppl working on the game, you really think they could prepare this in just 3 weeks of fixtf2 protest?

Or make some sort of "Prime (premium)" system like in cs so only Premium players would get matched against premium players. You gotta buy this premium to play against premium players. Make it 5 dollars or something. I don't believe that bot hosters can afford that shit for every single bot from their basements.

Caution. They only BANNED the bots. its SUPER easy to create a new account on steam. Next to this, this was *NOT* a responts to the #FixTF2 thing. This was long in the making and got only out "just in time" for the summer update. I dont wanna ruin the moment but i please not to overhype this. We might got a bannwave but nothing else was done. We are not over the hill yet, we and valve have still a lot to do and care about.

Banning bots is easy because you know they are cheating. Banning cheaters is harder because you can't easyly tell they're cheating. Bots are obvious.

Cheaters aren't as common as bots because u benefit nothing cheating in tf2 , it doesn't have a good competitive mode like counter strike

This is only a step, we still need Vavle to Run the rest and look into any of, A: a better anti-cheat that ban accounts within 24hr of being reported for cheating and catch them using it. B: Fix many of the issues that were made to “limit” bot’s ability to communicate. C: Apologies to the community for a lack of any work or updates on the problem. D: Improve Casual, Competitive and even Community Servers if possible to be safer but also so cheaters can’t crash servers, delete text chat, or see all text chat including private and squad text chat.

Just saying, and sorry for the cold water: These sort of ban waves happen after months of data/ months of "safe time" for cheaters and botters, so it's possible this ban wave was already scheduled way before the #FixTF2 movement. Even more that, considering summer's around the corner, they'll probably release a summer update soon. Then again, the #FixTF2 could've also made them re-schedule the ban wave and/ or summer update to be earlier than it was. VALVe does work on TF2, but they are overwhelmingly lax to work on it, and that's the problem; way more work is needed on the game

I have a stupid theroy. Perhaps they had been updating the VAC through the last few months, but made no mention about it till now to prevent the bots from preparing to counter attack. Valve basically surprise attacked the bots. Don't take this as fact. They've likely just Valve Time the VAC update.

this wasn't a response to the # losers. It was an investigation and work that's been ongoing behind the scenes for over two years now going not just after the bots but their discord servers ,profiles , websites ,etc. They went scorched earth and that kind of level of response requires long term preparation and precautions like making sure what they were working on didn't leak and alert the botters.

Call me pessimistic, but I feel like this might be a PR move more than anything: Before of the ban wave, CS and TF2 players were ready to review bomb and flame Deadlock as soon as it would release, claiming they wouldn't have bothered because of how Valve manages its IPs, so I get the feeling it MIGHT be a case of Valve just putting on a facade of good guys until their new game releases and gets enough players to then get back doing nothing again. Maybe is just me, but I wouldn't call it over until is really over.
