Botswana Elections | BDP suffers defeat

Botswana's outgoing President Mokgweetsi Masisi has congratulated Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) leader Duma Boko on his victory.
This after the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has suffered a massive electoral defeat in the recent polls.
Masisi has committed to ensure that there is smooth transition in the neighbouring country.
The BDP has been in charge since 1966 following the independence from Britain.

@ Only now is proving that it does. Although the Constitution declared it and presidents were elected, the fact that only one party was in power for 58 years, despite people's livelihood got worse; but in every election the same party was voted again and again - this brought question marks on Botswana's democracy. But now, We can see that Africans are finally embracing democracy, “by the behaviour of the people and the departing president in the way that he did - peacefully, humbly and maturely. Congratulations Botswana 👏👏👏and well done mr president 🫡.

Not only a defeat, BDP got wiped out, they only have 1 seat in parliament! Imagine ruling for nearly 60 years and now you have no power in the new government! The public have spoken, they had no confidence with the BDP and want change.
