Botswana has just shot itself in the foot. A landlocked country that relies heavily on mining for its economic survival and then chooses to sell a national asset like a mine effectively forfeits both control and potential future benefits.

That mall in Selebi Phikwe speaks volumes, Woolies and PnP 😂 But let us be honest, Diamond sales are dwindling, and Cobalt won't get us far free from the mineral curse that hangs over the country. I want to hear DIVERSIFICATION from the mineral lead economy. Botswana's GDP shrank 1.8% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2024, following a 0.9% contraction in the previous period.
