Two things that made these two actors and friends so Great 1) they were genuinely good friends and worked very well together 2) when the messed up (and they did) it was really funny and they didn't take it too seriously

Adelle Thompson None of this is messed up though. The ‘mistake’ is actually deliberate.

@@kisbie It must have been messed up the first time

Rik having a giggle fit! Funniest thing ever! :D

Could anyone see a today comedian (lossely said) doing this? they would use the canned laughter machine and pipe down after 10 seconds. Almost like yank 'comedy' has infiltrated.
@kisbie5 жыл бұрын
the turbanator Alfredo I thought a big criticism of today’s comedians was that they were always laughing at their own jokes. Stewart Lee even does a routine about it.

This is the funniest live moment I've ever seen. Even if it was planned, it's so perfectly acted that I laugh until I cry every time I watch it.

I love 'silly' - I love to see people in fits of giggles - Rik you were a gem!

To comedians such as Mayall, and Edmondson, I suppose this isn't so much a fluff as a golden opportunity to show how good their improv skills still are,/were.
@kisbie5 жыл бұрын
youngfreak32 None of this is improvised though. They did this exact routine in every performance.
@patrickhannon42175 жыл бұрын
@youngfreak32 and @kisbie to be fair both of you could be wrong or right, but it takes a LOT of acting skill to laugh as genuinely as Rik was laughing here, you can't *fake* that laugh!
@rhyswhittington87594 жыл бұрын
@@kisbie yeah but it likely happened once like that and then you added it into the routine.

@@kisbie They did have a couple of fake bloopers, but I'm willing to bet this is a genuine one.

I love this. I know that some of the Bottom live "adlibs" were scripted but this one doesn't feel so.

these 2 would still have the modern 'comedians' sulking and spouting empty words.

It makes me wonder if any of this is improvised, ad libed, or deliberate. It doesn't matter because it is funny.

schizoidboy unless you went to one of the shows that weren’t recorded we’ll never know!!!

15heston Did you go to one of there shows that wasn't recorded!?
@HatsTour6 жыл бұрын
schizoidboy I saw this live at the Hammersmith Apollo. I can confirm that this is a deliberate "blooper". They did the exact same thing when it wasn't recorded. Like you say though, it doesn't matter, its still hilarious.
@andrewthorne35706 жыл бұрын
Alot of the time the script was altered depending on how things went down with the audience. A lot of mistakes were actually mistakes once that got a big laugh and then became part of the show
@rubysutherland203311 жыл бұрын
Why don't they make anything like this anymore?
@ikol4587 жыл бұрын
I could do it given the right amount of cash

Because these guys were both absolutely unique, and their pairing up was even more so. There'll never be another Rick or another Ade, and even if there somehow were, they'd probably never meet, get into showbiz and team up. I sometimes wonder if Mr Edmonson is actually the more talented of the two, though Rick always seemingly took the lead and had more energy whenever the audience could see them, a bit like Eric Morcambe to Ernie Wise - he's done some amazing straight solo acting.

you need to add the section from act 2 to the end of this then this video is complete, and is it me but is this video very quite

The exact same "little mistake" with the door was done at Liverpool Empire too. Its obviously meant to happen for laughs.
@tommcewan79365 жыл бұрын
Maybe it was a real mistake the first time, but it went down so well they decided to keep it?
