Dan Schneider has had such a creative burnout. He either needs to take a break and come up with something completely different or just quit. But then again, I don't think he's ever gonna quit given he probably has a contract with Nickelodeon and until it expires, whenever that is, he's bound to Nick and is gonna keep making more of these sitcoms. Again, he either needs to take a break and come up with something totally new or just stop altogether.

iCarly's first webcast getting 37K views is even more believable because they were already coming off of a popular viral video (the talent show thing) so they would've already had some word-of-mouth contributing the viewcount. Sky Whale went from nothing to number one with no explanation of how it got there other than "overnight success" and suddenly it's popular. Game Shakers could've had it so they start off not doing very well, but then a big KZbinr (possibly ProJared) comes across the game, gets people playing it, and then it gradually go up the charts. That's a much more realistic way for games these days to get super popular; A big KZbinr plays it and likes it, so people give it a try.

CaptainJZH In addition, when iCarly premiered in 2007, that was around the time where KZbin was also in its early years and starting to become a very popular site to go watch videos of almost anything, especially viral videos that stemmed off from there (examples like Liam Kyle Sullivan’s “Shoes”, “Charlie bit my finger”, “Evolution of Dance”, etc). Back then, viral videos that reached around 50k or even a million views was considered “popular” or “most viewed”. Obviously looking back now, that’s pretty much considered little in terms of viewcount but it’s amazing how much it’s changed over a decade.

Something that's also noteworthy and really cool about iCarly in comparison to Game Shakers: We get to see the success of the web show gradually increase over the course of the first season. The subsequent episode was about the kids trying to get more viewers. And finally in one episode (where Ms. Briggs forces them to let her perform her bagpipes on the show), they get 100,000 viewers, which adds conflict because this is the highest number of views the webcast has gotten up to this point and Ms. Briggs is there sullying it. While it's a small detail, what made iCarly's premise work was that we get to see them struggle with the success of their endeavor. We get to see the characters brainstorm ideas to keep their show fresh and to get more people interested. It's a lot better than two girls creating a game overnight and becoming rich literally the next day. With the way it's executed, the premise of the show just becomes flimsy and pointless.

To be honest, iCarly just reminds me of the colorful happy times of the internet. When people were so excited that they weren't controlled by corporations who tell them what to do. Anything you make, good or bad is still out there for 100% free which is what KZbin was before it was the ad-infested monopoly it is now.

Honestly, I think the Bizarro version of Poison Pie should actually be iStakeout. You've got the concept of the cops/detectives being really incompetent, some of the main characters going out to investigate what was really going on, and the situation turning out to be a dumb misunderstanding in the end. Plus, it was a lot funnier than Poison Pie and there's even a baked good in the episode to boot (the sock cake that Spencer made for Socko)!

Ah icarly. Despite the major flaws that icarly has, I still think it's a decent show. It's definitely one of the last good live action show from Dan Schneider in general. I remember watching ipilot in 2007, and I still loved the ipilot episode.

The first season was amazing, as good as _Drake & Josh_ in my opinion. It seems like after Season 2, the show took a huge creative hit and became less about the webshow and more about the character's personal lives, which completely butchered the show.

I've been thinking about this for a while, but I think I have a better concept for a pilot to Game Shakers: The main character is assigned the same assigment that she's been assigned in the actual pilot, and when she's thinking about what to do, she watches an episode of iCarly. She realizes that iCarly is something Carly Sam and Freddy made that makes the world, to some, a better place. She decides to use the internet/computers to create something for people to enjoy and creates a game. She doesn't put it on the appstore until after the teacher tells her that videogames don't improve humanity. Throw in a couple of your ideas and it could've been a perfect pilot.

10:05 Truth. I thought the first two seasons of iCarly were actually pretty good. They had a well balance of comedy and heart. Then, Season 3 came and it seemed like they were just trying to go for jokes and that’s it. Some episodes were good in Season 3 onward, but it wasn’t the same as the first two.

iPilot came out on September 8, 2007. That was one of the first TV episodes I ever saw in my new house, in the room I am sitting in right now, within the first few weeks I moved here. And it was AMAZING in every way. Not only that, but even though it was only 22 minutes, Episode 2 also premiered that same night in a back-to-back showing. So if you consider it an hour long pilot, as I'm sure many people do, then the second half builds off of it by having them come up with ways to try to get more views. This episode is just a nostalgia bomb to me and it really is THAT good. Heck, I'm hard pressed to think of another show's pilot I like better. I actually have no idea what Poison Pie's Bizarro could be. I don't see it being iPie because do they really have that much in common aside from both involving pie? (And I know some people don't like iPie, personally I think it's fine.) My best guess at this point has got to be iHurt Lewbert.

In the iCarly April Fool's Day episode (which is a spoof of clip-shows), a "flashback" is shown depicting a confrontation between Miss Briggs and an alternate version of herself played by Jerry Trainor. They explode, then Freddie appears and he, Carly, and Sam randomly decide to start a web-show. The entire episode is like that, with bizarre "flashbacks", random humor, and purposely stilted acting. The episode even starts with a comedic disclaimer basically telling you that the episode is non-canon. I originally found the episode to be just fine, but then one day my brother told me that "iApril Fools" is basically a precursor to modern Schneider's Bakery, and it could be, as is, a regular episode of Henry Danger or Game Shakers. Now I love the episode.

iPilot made iCarly look like it was going to be a pretty good series, IMO. But the series lost it's sentimental drive by the time season one was over, whereas Drake and Josh continued to have pretty touching moments right up until the finale.

Can't believe I missed this one. I have always thought that Game Shakers was and is a bootleg iCarly. Even the characters' personalities are similar. This just proves that there are hardly any original ideas out there anymore, especially with children's programming. I agree that since there is a relatively new audience for each new Schneider's Bakery show, they can continue to put out crap and the shows will still be somewhat popular. Game Shakers and Henry Danger IMO aren't even in the same league as earlier Schneider's Bakery shows like Drake & Josh, Zoey101 and early seasons iCarly. I honestly don't even know why they felt the need to change and become more about stupid storylines with characters who are as dumb as rocks or painfully awkward or both. Zoey101 is a very good example of a show where the characters for the most part had substance and you wanted to root for them most of the time. The fact that this show didn't use a laugh track helped tremendously to give it credibility. These days creators of live action children's shows (with the exception of a few on Disney Channel I believe) think that children will not understand that a show is supposed to be funny unless they use a laugh track and tell you when to laugh. Just for kicks once on a Nickelodeon show (can't remember which one) I forced myself to laugh every single time the laugh track was used and the show wanted me to laugh about once every 10-15 seconds or so. Realistically no matter how funny a TV show is (including gut busting classics like I Love Lucy) most people don't think every single joke is worthy of a laugh. It is borderline insulting to a person's intelligence to let them know that a certain "joke" is in fact a joke and we must laugh. Most of the time the so called "jokes" are cringe worthy and I'm rolling my eyes more than I'm actually laughing. I think I stopped laughing entirely at a Schneider's Bakery show starting with a combination of much later seasons iCarly, last season Victorious and all of Sam & Cat going forward. It's a shame because I used to be a huge fan of these shows. I just hope that with all the off camera rumors going on that the current shows they have which are supposed to end any minute now will have a nice simple send off and then fade into the background. You can still watch some older and better Schneider's Bakery shows like early seasons iCarly and Zoey101 occasionally on the TeenNick network. I now prefer to watch that channel than Nickelodeon. It's kind of like a Nick at Nite for Nickelodeon shows.

I saw the Game Shakers pilot yesterday. It's on KZbin in 4 parts. Being someone who sort of liked it and didn't think it was that bad, let me *try* to defend it and explain why I think it's good. I look forward to hearing your response, Pieguy! Okay, first off, the girls didn't just decide from nowhere "Let's make a game!" If you watch the pilot, Babe and Kenzie tried to make a moving plate to spread "eatercizing" for their science project which backfired. Kenzie had previously created a game (which isn't really a game), and Babe is the one who suggested "Let's make that our project." Kenzie decided against it at first, but she eventually gave in. It's not as contrived as you led on. Second, I was honestly okay with them skipping them making the game. Watching them *code* the game wouldn't have been really interesting. It would've been insanely boring. And considering how Kenzie gave in to Babe wanting the game to be their science project, I imagine that's how it would've been if they had actually shown the game being made--Kenzie doing all the coding and Babe telling Kenzie what they should do for it. Also, considering how on the subway when Babe and Kenzie were talking about making the game their science project, they were listening to a group of men play the Double G song and Babe pointed out she liked the song, which was definitely foreshadowing for them using that song in the game. I don't think seeing them code that in the game would've been necessary considering we already heard Babe talk about it on the bus. I supposed maybe they could've swapped that out for a brief shot of Kenzie actually coding the game and Babe mentioning they should use the song, but then how would Babe have come up with that song? I think that subway scene was definitely necessary for Babe to hear the song to know what song to use in their game, which would be necessary for the next 3/4 of the plot. So, yeah, I didn't mind them skipping them making the game. Honestly, I'm sort of glad they did considering what I just said. Besides, the iCarly pilot didn't show Carly, Sam and/or Freddie making the iCarly website (that probably wouldn't have been very interesting either)--they just skipped right to the first webcast. Same thing in the Game Shakers pilot--we didn't see them making the actual game--they just skipped right to them showing the game to their class, which is actually the interesting part. Same thing with the iCarly pilot where seeing Carly and Sam do their webcast was the interesting part. Oh, and also, I can accept that Kenzie can code. Was hearing her say something she can do *really* that contrived? Was Freddie being tech-savy in iCarly contrived? That honestly feels like a nitpick. Third, seeing Sky Whale shoot up to #1 in the app store isn't that contrived in my opinion. In this day and age, I'm sure kids could be able to do something like that--create a phone game become very successful on the app store. Yeah, it goes up to #1 quite quick, but phone games can often go very high on the app store quickly, and considering Babe did say they put it on the app store for $0.99, I can accept that. Fourth, the whole "KZbinr cameo" thing was there to show off how successful their game had become. You'd think if someone did make a phone game that hit #1 and became the next Flappy Bird, a lot of KZbinrs or game reviewers would talk about it. It's a bit cheesy, but its purpose was to show off the success of Sky Whale. Fifth, Hudson's laugh. Maybe this is coming from someone who thought Piper from Henry Danger was funny and not annoying and maybe I'm biased in that regard, but Hudson's laugh isn't *THAT* bad, is it? It's nowhere near as annoying as your imitation of it, Pieguy, it's a lot quieter, and it only happens about 2 or 3 times for about 5 seconds each in the 44 minutes Sky Whale is long. And it isn't the main source of humor from the show either. There isn't one really, they tell a lot of jokes along the way. You must be *really* sensitive if you think that laugh is obnoxiously annoying (no offense, Pieguy!) Sixth, the Double G side of the story. Considering how Babe is a mischievous, rule-breaking troublemaker, kind of like Sam from iCarly, I can believe her motive to just not show up to Double G's meeting. And even though it's a little bit petty, I can understand Double G's motivation of demanding the girls his money. They never asked him to use his song in Sky Whale and they never signed any deal with him or anything, so I can understand why Double G is upset that they stole his song and now they're making tons of money when Double G is earning zip. It's goofy and over the top, but I'm okay with it. iCarly was often goofy and over the top. And seventh, yes, the Game Shakers pilot does end in almost the exact same way the iCarly episode did--a character saying "Let's have a party" or something along those lines, but I felt it was a great way to end the episode. How would you have rather it ended? Babe saying, "Great, Double G, you're our partner now!" and then the screen fading out to black? No, it had to end on some kind of high note, and I don't think it could've ended any other way. And also, I enjoyed the Game Shakers party more than the iCarly party. Just a personal preference, but yeah. So that's why I sort of genuinely liked the Game Shaker pilot. Thoughts, Pieguy? I'm always open to hear your opinions of why you disagree with me and want to have a friendly argument with me, just like you and Mr. Enter did with the SpongeBob episode "I'm With Stupid." So, it's not just me then? There really is a decline in quality from Schneider's Bakery shows... I was never a huge fan of iCarly, but I've seen enough to notice it. At first I thought it was just because I was getting older and no longer found the humor funny, but after re-watching the earlier episodes (as well as Schneider's previous show, Drake and Josh.) the writing still felt reasonably solid to me. I think it was sometime after the episode with Fred that the decline became noticeable. By the time the show had ended, it became almost completely unwatchable for me. Then Game Shakers and Henry Danger premiered, and those two (as well as their short-lived predecessor, Sam & Cat.) contributed to my decision to stop watching TV altogether... Given Sky Whale's uncanny similarities to iPilot, it's clear the studio is at least somewhat aware of this decline, but instead of trying to improve, they are just taking their past successes and trying to give them a new coat of paint in an attempt to sell a less-than-stellar product...

It begs the question on what the hell happened to Dan Schneider over the years. His shows used to be funny and watchable. Now they're just unfunny and unwatchable. I don't watch Henry Danger because the movie didn't grab me to watching the series afterward and I regret watching Game Shakers up to the one hour special (which I thankfully avoided).

I think the problem with Schneider's Bakery is that it is so damn focused on really stupid wish fulfillment fantasies and nothing else. Think about it, nearly every show of theirs (especially recent ones) is a blatantly obvious tweenage power or glamour fantasy. Victorious - "Oh yeah, you'll go to a school for super talented kids where they'll let you sing pop songs instead of take tests and design your locker any way you want!" Game Shakers - "Oh yeah, video games are so popular, I bet you could totally be a master game maker despite knowing jack shit about games." There's nothing wrong with wish fulfillment as a base, but the problem arises when you're so focused on making your story as close to the fantasy as possible that you take away anything resembling depth or true struggle because it would put too much strain on the viewer's ability to project themselves onto the cardboard cutout characters.
