Can you touch on your routine for cleaning/caring for the leather?
@MatthewSchaefer4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's pretty simple! I clean the boot with a damp cloth, then I use a boot oil and rub a light amount of the oil into all the leather on the boot. Most of the oils recomend using a cloth for the oil, but I find it easiest just to use my hands. Rub the oil in until it is no longer shiny!

Thanks for the review. I’m interested in picking up a pair. The upper looks like it could last a lot longer than the soles. It would be great if we could send them back to Lems to replace the soles when needed.
@MatthewSchaefer3 жыл бұрын
That would be the dream. Mine are still doing okay, but I use them SO much less frequently 😕(mostly because I don't want them to fall apart and then I'd need to get a new pair.

@@MatthewSchaefer absolute dream. Lol. The leather breaks in so nice . Altra sneaker company has a boot zero drop and wide. They still are not osha approved but they look strong and awesome. Another reccomendation( NoBull )hightops I wore doing construction also. Same prob not osha approved but the durability is outstanding.

How slippery are they in rain? And slush/snow. I plan on using these when it rains. I’m usually walking on pavement but sometimes wet tiles and that’s my only concern

I have 2 pairs. I work in construction. I have a high instep ,plantar fasciitis, from injury and a normally wide foot. I went through about 2 pairs in a year. You must watch everywhere you walk cause they don't protect your feet much. A nail will go through and u drop something u will hurt bad.lol. Guys that boots kill their feet understand the risk I took. I love the comfort of the boot most comfortable probably ever but I need to wear something tougher for work but they are great for everything else. You will have relief in your feet. If Lems can possibly make a construction boot but I don't think it is possible.
@MatthewSchaefer4 жыл бұрын
A true construction boot would really be awesome! I hope they do make something like it!

It should be possible: same proportions, same depth of sole, just tougher materials. Personally, I'd like it if they did an extra wide version. The width as it is is great compared to ordinary shoes, but nowhere near as good as my all-time favourite pair of minimalist shoes: my freet connect 2s. They're not really that much wider, but the upper is so soft, it's almost like wearing socks. For boots, made from harder material, I need more space or my little toes are still pinched and my knee pain comes back. It's frustrating because I really like Lems and they're so close to being wide enough, but just not enough to actually be good for me.

Seems like a puncture resistant aramid layer under the insole, and a composite toe wouldn't add very much weight and would probably allow this shoe to provide some protection.
@seanheffron84443 жыл бұрын
@@garethbaus5471 I dont think it would compare to other Lem's. U can roll your Lems up anf put them in your pocket practically. The very forgiving sole that bends easily is what helps my plantar fasciatis. I believe this is what others like. I hope they figure something out soon
@garethbaus54713 жыл бұрын
@@seanheffron8444 a puncture resistant woven aramid layer is still pretty flexible, and a hard toe only stiffens the toe so you would probably still be able to roll them up and put them in your pocket although you might need a slightly bigger pocket.

I guess all those creases they quickly develop is part of the charm?

It is not that expensive. 15 years ago I got a Nike for $150. Today any high-end sneaker cost over $200.

Lol a 140$ is a lot of money for boots?!?!? I’d hate to see what you thought about y collection of boots and shoes I don’t have one pair under 150$ and as for boots not on pair in 250$ hence the reason I’m watching this video I’m looking to buy the waterproof version but need to know the sizing and fit
@MatthewSchaefer3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it feels like a lot of money to me for any shoes (especially because I'd prefer to be barefoot, which is free). I get that some people are happy to pay much more, but not everyone is in the financial place to spend lots of money on shoes. Not sure on the waterproof version, but my boots fit pretty true to size. Hope you find what you're looking for!

Can we get a real review on this boot, everyone wears these as a shoe, not a boot, for $150 thats insane for nothing
@MatthewSchaefer3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I suppose I do tend to use it more as a shoe. It has very flexible bottoms (as it is minimalist) and is lightweight. It doesn't really fit the bill as a traditional work boot, which I assume is what you are looking for. I agree 150 is a lot for a shoe, which I specifically mentioned in the review. When I am doing real work, I tend to pick up something a bit heavier, and not a minimalist boot. Sorry the review wasn't helpful for you.
@quitefranklyjosh2 жыл бұрын
Not expensive. Just not affordable for you personally. Different meanings. If you're spending very little on shoes (less than 150), that explains why you go through some fast. You're buying very low quality shoes! If you spend more they will last longer almost every time.
