Another is vehicles maintenance and making sure your vehicle fluids stay inside and not leak out, specially on rocks. when you do break like CV axle please clean up the grease. You can srsly hurt the next person coming out.

I think it is cute when the Australian channels say they have no idea why the USA decided to use the term "overlanding" and so many say it started there. So the wagon trains heading west would have been overlanding? Cattle drives from Texas to the railroads north would have been overlanders too? Good video on telling people to use their manners and behave like adults, I for one appreciate it as we had closed off our field roads from offroaders a few decades ago because of vandalism.

In my workshop, I use the motto: just GAS (give a sh!t). Think of someone besides yourself. If you don't want to have someone xxx to you, don't xxx to someone else. Old timey respect and common sense please. Thanks MAC and Owen.

What a informative talk. It was easy to tell you believe in what your saying. I wish everyone was as committed to our environment and wildlife as you are. Glad we have people like you and the other "overlanders" out there making that difference. Thank you all.. BTW: Where's your bandana that you normally wear around your neck?

I had someone approach my camp with me and my GF and asked if they could camp with us at a National park under our permit. Politely told them no. THEY CAME BACK and more pushy. How would you handle this situation? I reported them the next day. But it ruined a trip we had planned for weeks. It boiled my blood when they camped right outside our site in our view and next to our designated bathroom.

what I have seen and learned in over 40 years of hiking, camping and off roading and overlanding, people are people. There will always be the small element that just don't care. Lately, since the pandemic it seems more people are just lazy and got worse. I am constantly filling my storage/trash bag with tons of trash in the back country that was not there before. Just sad!

A few comments: 1. Light pollution, refrain using your powerful lights. No reason to blind your neighbors. 2. Ease on your gas pedal, don't tear up the road just because you like the sound of your engine roar. 3. No one likes your music, turn it down. 4. If you can't handle the alcohol, don't drink.

And one thing should be added for dog owners. Please Please don't put your dog crap in a plastic bag and throw it on the side of the trial!! If you're not going to take out with you, at the very least, just leave it.

Hey Mak, great video. I always tell my kids to leave it better than we found it when camping or even around the house/neighborhood. My question is… do you need a permit when traveling and camping in/on BLM and Forested lands? Planning to go on an adventure this summer and was just wondering. (Still looking into it all)

Isn't the Grand Canyon a no drone zone? Seems there was a shot from the north rim in this video.

There is not any footage from that area because sadly we’ve never made it there. But there are other places in the US that look similar that don’t have no drone policies

Thanks for the reminder to pack out all toilet paper! We have been doing that for over 20 years, starting well before a 6 week backpacking trip. It can easily be done, and is not gross. I am still seeing KZbin voices talk about burying TP, and am sick of it, just as I am sick of seeing all the TP left on the ground or surfaced later from well meaning buryers. I have a slight bone to pick, though: For probably 30 years I have not made fires while backpacking, and have not collected firewood when doing other types of camping. I will buy locally and use a fire ring at times, but I feel that collecting wood to burn is similar to other types of "removing" things from our wild lands, which I would never do. Especially in desert areas with slow growth its boggling to me, but even here in the Pacific Northwest, with rapid growth, I treat the lands with the same respect. With increasingly heavy use of public lands, we should all consider stopping the stripping of deadwood for our personal pleasure.
@cmcer19953 жыл бұрын
Mak, nice clarification on BLM, sad huh? Another reason for restricting Drones is some people use them for scouting for hunting. I can see a lot of thought went into making this video on Overlanding and your personal experiences really helped as well. Looking forward to spending a lot of time camping with my truck bed platform this summer, actually used some of your ideas in the build.

It’s a sad state of affairs that people need to be told. You would think basic manners and good common sense would take care of this, but boy, it sure doesn’t. Such a shame. I don’t overland but live on the coast, and when taking those Long Beach walks, I fill up a tall kitchen trash bag. Leaving more to be picked up the next day! But, when seeing photos taken from around the world, people are worse than pigs. We are the minority.

**Also** overlanding events are family friendly, it's not a reason to get fall down intoxicated, you'd be surprised at how many times I've seen small groups of attendees imbibe to the point of becoming extremely annoying and getting removed from the event altogether.

Pick up after yourselves people. Places are getting trashed and then closed. Keep your dog under control. I've had off leash dog issues with others who think they can let their dog run everywhere including my camp. Not cool.
