WOW, I'm glad I found this. I haven't done any weaving for ages & thinking I should get back in the game :)

Dear Liz, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this pattern ! I used to watch knitting daily and my favorite segments were when you would do a weaving project! Tessa~~~

Terrific video, helpful enough that even this not very experienced rigid heddle weaver thinks she can do it. Onward to the warping board!

If you were to use a lighter weight yarn dk or fingering would you change the pattern of 8 stitches to something larger as long as it's equal numbers top and bottom?
@LizGipson Жыл бұрын
I think there are two things to consider here. If you were to use a finer yarn, sport or fingers, I would also consider a finer sett of perhaps 12. I think by stitches you mean ends? The little bundles could be any size you wish. You can experiment a little on the loom to see what you like, keeping in mind that the bouquets will be taller on the loom than when they are off. Does that help?

Hello Liz, and thanks for your wonderful tutorials. Question. You mention that you use a lighter weight yarn for the weft when weaving Brooks. However, it looks like you are using the same yarn for both the warp and weft in you video. Please clarify. Thanks!
@LizGipson2 жыл бұрын
I was talking about warp-faced weaves in general at that point. I went onto say the since we are weaving lace that the structure will keep the weave open in this denser sett.

Hi Liz! Great video, thank you! Question- if I want to do a solid tabby on the edges for a border, would I just start weaving the bouquet clusters on the second group of 4?

Correct!

Hi Liz love the look of this technique. Can I do Brooks Bouquet on a variegated yarn? Will the pattern show at all? Thanks!
@LizGipson7 жыл бұрын
It tends to get lost in variegated yarns if you weave them both warp and weft. I've seen successful results with just putting variegated in the warp and weaving with a coordinating solid.

Awesome work Yarnworker!! Do you have a video detailing for us beginners how to weave that beautiful header??? It would be greatly appreciated.
@Yarnworker7 жыл бұрын
I don't have a video, but I do have a blog post on weaving headers. www.yarnworker.com/why-i-like-headers/ The trick with this one, is to pack it tightly as I demonstrated in the video.

Hi. I love this video. I have a 30/10 cm dent heddle, when converted is about an 8 dent heddle. Is it possible to use this and convert it to a 40/10, or a 10, dent heddle to do this project?
@Yarnworker6 жыл бұрын
You can decrease a rigid heddle's sett by threading a slot and then skipping a slot and hole. Then thread a hole, skip a slot and a hole and then thread a slot, etc. This decreases the sett by approximately half. However, it doesn't work so well to try and make a finer sett from from a larger rigid heddle, something possible with a floor loom reed where the heddles and reed are separate from one another. You can double threads throughout the piece, but if you just do one or two you end up with that is called crammed threads. A nice look, but not what you are going form. That said this pattern is fairly forgiving. When we were doing the weave-along a number of folks used an 8-dent rigid heddle and it worked just fine. Your sett will be a little more open and more lace-like, but that should be AOK if you use a wool that fulls or puffs up in the finish. Just be careful not to overbeat your fabric.

Great tutorial. What size loom are you using here? I'm ready to move up from the Cricket and not sure how wide I should go.
@Yarnworker7 жыл бұрын
lpgustafson I'm working on a 25'' loom. I find it gives me more options for wide projects such as rugs, shawls, and oversized towels. I still use my Cricket all the time for smaller projects and sampling.
@lindabonora79657 жыл бұрын
I have another question after watching the video for about the 4th time! I know you worked the first bouquet down really well, but what about subsequent bouquet rows? Do you beat them down pretty well, or work them loosely? Does that make sense?
@LizGipson7 жыл бұрын
You want to go for consistent tension on the bouquet rows, so they aren't visually different from one another.

Hi. Love this stitch but how do you finish off the shawl? Tie and fringe or hem stitch? I am new to weaving but love all the patterns you can do. I am just worried about finishing off.
@Yarnworker7 жыл бұрын
Since you worked the stitch on the first and last row of the shawl, no further finishing is required, i.e. securing of fringe. Wet finishing depends on the yarn you are using. A safe bet is to fill your bathtub with some no rinse soap and let the shawl soak for 20 minutes, press the water, and then lay flat to dry. If you are new to weaving you may be interested in my Weaving 101 class in the Yarnworker School ( yarnworker.thinkific.com) or my book "Weaving Made Easy" that includes this pattern.
