I had a similar experience with my Penelope toasted. Only my second Penelope bottle ever but the 1st was the 9 yr(Beast). Would like to have seen Buzzards Roost in here.

It’s a unicorn, but have you tried the Jefferson’s presidential select 16 year? It’s a double oak and might be one of the first double oaked bourbons that hit the market. Sooo good. Huge sleeper on secondary right now

So far the best toasted/double oaked product that I have had is the Heaven Hill Select Stock Toasted. It's high proof, tastes like pancakes with barrel finished maple syrup, and it has a nice sweet oaky finish.

I didn't like the Penelope Toasted either. Funny that I bought the Masters Keep One and didn't even know it was toasted. Haven't cracked it yet. The Peerless are some of my favorites. The DO Rye especially. I haven't tried the Pursuit United DO yet, but it gets great reviews. I didn't like their regular bottle from last year. Cheers.

The best DO that has beat all others in blinds for me is the 4 Gate Kelvin Sixty. Peerless DO Bourbon does good for me too. 2XO hang in the middle typically. My Penelope toasted barrel strength bourbon is not good either. LOL

I'd actually like to see a review of the whole Buzzards Roost lineup. I have the barrel strength and it's a good pour but I'm at the point where I won't really spend $70 on something I don't have a lot of confidence in loving.

I have never seen a wild turkey le around me. Only things we have are the cheaper bottles, 101, 86, rare breed, occasionally a Kentucky spirit. I would love to get a wild turkey masters keep or even a 101 12 year.

That Penelope is char2, but my SP is char5, and is wonderful..but the toasteds I like least you didn't even include, like Bluegrass or Down Home or others

Penelope rated as it should be last place. I haven't tried all of them but i have not any that i have tasted. Makes me very shy about buying any others. Just my opinion

How about sending a peerless toasted sample to me for review? I love the double oak bourbon and rye they do so was curious to get a bottle but if it’s as bad as you say maybe I don’t haha

I've seen the Peerless DO Bourbon finish poorly in blinds. The DO Rye has done well.

Though I'm not much of a oak guy I did enjoy the Shortbarrle toasted. Unfortunately they have lowered the proof which was 101. I believe its now 94. The rye is still at the 101 proof point which I'm going to get but its not a double finished. I really like rye’s and not many are double finished but I had the Angle Envy and it was not something I enjoyed at all. Same with the Sagamore double oak it wasn't terrible but not something I'd buy again.OF 1910 is a great bottle to blend with 1920 but again not something I'm buying to just enjoy.

It's okay at best. Without knowing ahead of time, I wouldn't have even noticed it was toasted. I continue to be underwhelmed by everything Yellowstone.

Sorry, without the original double oaked bourbon "Prichard's" this simply is not a valid contest. I though this was the bourbon "Kingdom" :). I personally put Prichard's ahead of Woodford and Old Forester, but haven't tried Peerless.

That WT bottle is no way worth TRIPLE the price of the Woodford Double Oaked, It's very good, but just not worth the price. JMO.
