It's 89.99$ in my area (North Illinois). Finally got a bottle. Haven't seen it for cheaper around my area.

I just cracked my Peerless DO and love it! I find it to be very smooth for 107 proof, with excellent viscosity and more sweetness that you are describing. The chocolate is definitely there as is the leather and wood, all in a good way. This is my first foray into double oaked bourbons, so now I feel like I have to give the OF 1910 and the WFDO a try as well. Thanks for the great review!

Yes I wish it was a little cheaper also. I was at the distillery In Louisville on the 4th of Nov and paid $134 for this bottle. the Dbl Oak Rye single barrel #4 was a little more and the Chocolate Manhattan bourbon single barrel was a little less. All in all when you visit distillery you will always find new and different bottles to purchase. Varity that you don't always see at the bigger houses. And isn't Varity the spice of life? Good review and hears to Kentucky Peerless for trying new things. Cheers.

Peerless is $79 here in San Antonio. It’s tough to buy it when Woodford DO is $48.

Agree with the comments on Peerless pricing. I'm in NJ and the prices are nuts for whiskies this young. Everything is over $100 bucks so I've never even considered buying it.

I’m a big fan of double-oaked and toasted bourbons, but this is the most extreme in terms of big, sweet brown-sugar flavor. It’s usually too intense for me. I really need to be in the right mood for it, as a dessert bourbon. Update: I just did a little comparison of Peerless and Woodford Double-Oak, to confirm I prefer the Woodford, and then I just combined the 1/2 ounce Woordford with the 1/2 ounce Peerless, just out of curiosity - and it's fantastic! (my proprietary blend:). If you also have a bottle of both on your shelf, try it!

OF 1910 it is. It’s getting cold and I’m starting to get in the mood for these flavors. Cheers bro 🥃

Keeping an eye out for peerless. Woodford DO for me is breakfast bourbon while the 1910 is charred marshmallows and graham crackers. Cheers Jason!

You can make an argument for the Starlight double oaked. @ 106 proof & 4.5 years old, it would make an interesting comparison.

Thanks J, the peerless seems to have some peaty scotch similarities w I'd be curious to sample but at that price pt and ltd dist I think I'll be ok if it doesn't happen. I have been eyeing the 1910 (to go next to my 1920). This inspires me to grab one although that's become hard to find.

I have had the bourbon at 108 proof and the double barreled rye. Both were good but I don't hunt peerless down because it isn't available in my area.I also agree that in general Peerless prices are on the high side.

i have tended to like double oaked products over regular ones; they tend to round out young sharp notes and add deep complexity.

I would definitely say that the scale of production for Woodford and Old Forester is far beyond Peerless allowing for a cheaper price. I’ve never tried any Peerless bourbon yet but the Ryes I’ve tried are great

Plus everything peerless does makes their whiskey more expensive. Sweet mash, low entry proof, bottle design...etc.

So why do you think so many of the toasted finishes out there are lower proof? I can think of a million toasted barrel finish whiskies right now and the only ones offered at barrel proof are this and Michter’s Toasted Barrel Rye. Is it the cost of the second finish or does it tone down some of the woody characteristics when you proof it down?
@TheMashandDrum3 жыл бұрын
I think theres a little bit of both here. I think you get more out of it by watering it down and it may tone down some of the tannic notes that can happen with a double oak. Personally I think toasted ryes work better than bourbon.

Mash, hear me out brother. Noah's Mill. Revisit. I just got into a bottle and MY GOD. You talk about the leather chocolate of 1920 meets the spicy oak of Rare Breed and a back note of refined peanuts like a Knob Creek 12. And finish of pepper and that little tingle of mint/cinnamon. And a chewy mouth of 114 proof. $45-$55. It's not the "best" bourbon, but it's the best of bourbon. A nose that is 5 different flavors and robust, fills your entire brain but is different each time. Peanuts and cherry cinnamon covered in caramel oak. And chewy mouth with a long Kentucky hug. For under $60?? Forget it. Noah's Mill is CRIMINALLY underrated. If you like Beam or Knob, Noah's Mill is an unbelievable value.
@TheMashandDrum3 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you said. Noah's Mill to me is all peanut butter and spice.
