I have the AT-DS. Itll run on 18v just like the original will. I also have the authentic JHS AT+ that I bought because I like the AT-DS so much that I knew I needed to support the original builder. Same goes for the pedal I just bought, the DemonFX Gladiator pedal. It's a clone of the Gladio pedal, which is 2 Dumbles. One side is Sonny Landreths Dumble tone and the other is Robben Fords. It's absolutely incredible. It can channel switch like an amp, also. So you aren't doing the footswitch dance. If channel 1 is on, you click channel 2 and #1 automatically goes off and #2 comes on and vice versa. You can also set it to stack both sides like a normal double pedal does, also.

@BudgetPedalChap it's an awesome pedal. That's why I plan on picking up a real one. It's the least I can do since I like it so much. Same thing I did with the AT-DS & AT+. The AT-DS was my favorite pedal for quite a while. So I finally got the original a few months ago. Not sure when I'll pick up a Gladio pedal from Cornerstone, I think that's the name, but it'll probably be a few months.

Just bought one to go with my 40w Hot Rod Deluxe. Can't wait! I'm hoping it sounds better than the other "distortion" pedals I have. The only real one being a DS1 lol. Maybe a JHS AT+. Not sure that's distortion? Whatever the case, I'm hoping this one fills that void.

@@J.C... it's definitely going to get you in a different place than the HRD tone. It's quite versatile with all of the EQ controls. Let me know how you get on 👍
@J.C...7 күн бұрын
Sweet. I just picked up a 100w passive attenuator for the HRD, also. So I've really been enjoying it recently. It sounds KILLER cranked to 12. And it's very weird to have all that amp interplay with the guitar when the volume is at speaking levels. Hit a note and it'll go on...and on and on and on lol. I was already thoroughly enjoying my new amp but this Rockboard 100w attenuator really turned it up a couple of notches. But I also modded the tubes when I got it so it's not running the stock 12ax7s in the preamp. V1 is a 12AY7 and V2 is a 12AT7. Those tubes turned this amp into a much more usable amp. Instead of it getting too loud at 2-3, it gets loud around 5 or 6 now. And it made the drive channels 1000x more usable. They're actually usable where they sort of aren't that great in stock form. Most people bypass them and just use pedals on the clean channel.

It has trim pots inside too, and not sure, it's been a while, I think there are dipswitches inside too but I could be mixed up with the DemonFX TS (the red one). Either way, you can vary the settings for each channel even more if you're used to opening up your stuff. I've set mine so channel B is more like an overdrive and channel A is high gain. Like you wrote, the channel order doesn't make sense with A being the high gain channel, it should be other way round, ah well I'm used to it now.... Also, the LED lights are way too bright for my liking when I look straight at them while playing, but nothing a piece of half transparant tape can't fix. Other than that, DemonFX pedals are awesome!

Despite not being a fan of cloned looks (I still don't get why companies don't register their IP in China, it's cheap and knockoffs couldn't be so obvious), I think this is a cool one! How do you feel it differs from the single-channel version? And does it also have the internal trim pot? I have that clone and I think it benefits from trimming the gain down, however then it sucks in low gain. And it also benefits from some sort of EQ behind it, unless it goes straight to a properly tuned power amp. I would be missing the tight knob instead of the switch, though, there are lots of good setting within its range to limit it to just two.
@BudgetPedalChap Жыл бұрын
I've not tried the single channel version but the added EQ controls of the deluxe seems worth it. The lower gain channel is really nice too and apparently the single version is based on the higher gain side. I've not looked inside to see if there are any trim pots, I'll have a poke around and see 👍
@peter333 Жыл бұрын
Yep it has internal trim pots =) I set channel B to half or 3/4, and channel A all the way up, it roars!

@@peter333 That's really cool, thank you for sharing the information! 😃 Funny story: in this period I stopped using the Freedman BE-ODX, and its place was taken by a bargain-priced Joyo Uzi clone (Irin brand, I read it's actually made, or at least licensed by Joyo). It sounds much, much harmonically richer than the BE-ODX at mid or lower gain settings (you need to fiddle with the internal trim pot to achieve that), and overall it has more clarity, or better note separation. Most definitely they can't be the same design, although I don't have the skills to trace the Uzi circuit myself and make a statement, hence I can't discard the Uzi could be originally based on the Friedman BE-OD. However, they don't either sound or react the same (I could match most of what the BE-ODX did on the Uzi, but the BE-ODX couldn't successfully do the mid/low gain stuff the Uzi shined at). So I'd like to dispel that «Uzi is a BE-OD clone» myth I keep reading all over the internet. The Uzi seriously misses having a dual-channel Plus model, though. 😂
@peter333 Жыл бұрын
@@riangarianga I own both pedals and they are very similar to me, I'd even say almost identical at certain settings but I do agree the Uzi has somewhat different tone options, specially in the low end. I had both side by side on my pedal board but I had like 30 pedals at one point so I really had to narrow it down and decided to keep the BE-OD because of the dual channel. I can swap it for the Uzi any time anyway. Joyo Uzi is a clone of the original Friedman BE-OD, Irin Uzi is a clone of the Joyo, but from what I've heard, Irin is not a Joyo licensed pedal. It is a different brand/manufacturer, cloning the Joyo clones 😂 but at a lower price point (check the Joyo and the Irin Maximum, same sound, totally different layout). Just recently I talked to a Chinese seller, I had bought a Joyo pedal off him, the R15 preamp house, and I had to return it because it has a massive flaw when using the FX loop. Meanwhile Joyo insisted there was nothing wrong with it, they were responsible for return shipping costs, but eventually they admitted to seller that all these preamp pedals had the same design flaw. They knew about it but didn't fix it, instead they kept pushing shops to keep selling them, but not this guy, he took em offline after our chat lol... Then he told me that a bunch of people, including himself, were fed up with Joyo forcing them to sell faulty pedals (I've had one or two more that I had to return), so they started making their own pedals, basically Joyo clones. At first the brandname was 'Horse', there are some reviews around, they changed the name to 'Irin' a while ago. These pedals are like half the price of a joyo lol. I own at least 5 or 6 Irin now and no complaints so far. Keep on rocking! 🤘😎🤘

@@peter333 Wow, thank you for that insigthful story! ❤I had no clue about it. Yeah, I can confirm thanks to a promotion I bought the Irin Uzi for 18 € (usually listed at around 22-24 €), while I couldn't find the Joyo for less than 44 €. 😂 I'm still skeptical about the Uzi being a BE-OD clone, its controls seem more like a hybrid with the Dirty Shirley. While we know these two Friedman pedals essentially share their circuit (it can be found online), the Uzi would be missing the internal trim pot, however having just one knob actually provides wider gain range. Let's say I could make the Uzi work more like a saturated Plexi or mid-gain 800, but the BE-ODX always sounds thin lifeless when I try to make it work in that territory. Neither one has any problems with high gain, but the Uzi feels to me like it has a bit «more». Whatever, it can be just me, the way I connect them, and so on. In any case, to A/B test them I used an AMT True Selector TS-2 to prevent any weird loading issues on the inputs/outputs (they weren't running one into the other, unlike many testers wrongly do), and I matched their settings by ear, not visually. To be honest I never was 100% happy with the Joyo pedals I own. They have something not leaving me 100% satisfied. On the contrary, I always was much happier with Caline (save a couple of early mishaps), they seem to be open to review user-found flaws and consequently upgrade circuits, and where I used to live before I could frequently get them at discounted prices, so the choice was a no-brainer. Last year I bought a lot of pedals from a few Chinese sellers, most of them I already knew since before, and all were reliable as usual. I had no issues with any products, so I never really talked to them. Sometimes we can even get 5-day delivery from China over here. I could have practiced my (currently still poor) Chinese skills on them, haha. The main idea was trying a bunch of affordable overdrive clones, test what worked best for my purposes, then I buying the real deal. I'm just thinking it's what brought me to this channel. 😄Reveal: most of these clones were great stuff, but the winner for my purposes was the classic Boss SD-1. The Pigtone/Musiclily Super Overdrive OD-1 (manufactured by Goldtone) is a great clone with perhaps a bit less output on the Level control (still plenty), you don't need to buy Boss unless you use a lead, you plan to switch the pedal off sometimes, and you rely on its buffer to prevent signal loss. I actually own the Irin Maximum you mentioned, the Nascar delay, the 10-band EQ (it works fine, but it isn't as good as the Caline ones, of which I own both mono and stereo versions, and they do shelving at 16K, while the Irin doesn't), and also a mini 4-knob Classic Flanger I'm not super impressed with (the Caline of the same name, but bigger footprint, sounds better). I also got quite a few of those mini pedals that were selling for peanuts (in my case they have no brand, but they were branded Kmise, Horse/Irin, and others). I had to buy the two Analog/Classic choruses twice, regardless of already having another different favourite chorus, because they sound that good, so I had to make sure I would have a backup for the future. 😂
