Actually, those short "extender cables" are used on the Bowflex leg extension attachment, at least on my Xtreme. However, I find the various bars work best without them, as the extender cables make the bar attachments hang too low. I just use an extra snap hook to attach them.

Where did you find those 6" extension cables? I looked and only found 10". I want them so I can use the pull down rope, but use both sides of the power rods.

Hey man, I THINK I got them on Ebay? It's been a while, but that feels right. Worst case scenario, could you string together a few carbiner hooks to the length you want? A bit of a work around, but I would think it will do the job.
