Being the frugal guy I am, I bought two Titan adjustable comp bells and two cheapo Yes4All adjustable bells that EVERY company seems to sell. Titan sent me a third adjustable comp bell too because like them or not, their customer service is actually quite good. Titan Comp bells aren’t the quickest to change, but they are durable, mimicking the shape and feel of a regular kb, and they give the greatest weight range. I keep one at 35, one at 53lbs, and one at 70lbs (or 1 pood, 1.5 pood and 2 pood). If I ever need dual kbs for a workout, I just change one. They’re also nice for when the workout calls for the rare 44lb or 62 lb kb. And because I mostly only change out weight once if at all in a workout, the time to switch out doesn’t bother me. It’s actually kind of fun once you know what you’re doing. The cheapo 10-40 lbs lbs are primarily used for weighted hanging leg raises. Perfect weight range, and quick and easy to change out. Plus, the handles on them are huge so shoes fitting will never be a worry. Just have a scale nearby to verify you’re at the weight you want until you know your desired setups by heart. Given that 90% of the time I’m literally standing on top of them, I didn’t want to break the bank. Overall, saved over $300+ versus having gone the Rep route, and I can go heavier. Also KBKs have better fit and finish, and come with the coveted tool. I don’t regret my choice at all though. Thanks Coop and GGR for the great work as always!

Bought the Titan adjustable KB (the budget option) at the beginning of Covid. Slightly disagree with Coop here.. I gotta say I’ve gotten a lot use out of it and didn’t find it to take more than a few seconds to change the weight. Pretty easy math to figure out the weight.. each plate weighs 5 pounds. I would highly recommend numbering the plates with a Sharpie so you know what order they should be in. For the price it’s a solid option

I purchased Titan’s comp adjustable bells over the ones from Rep Fitness for 2 reasons. 1) Most of the kbell training I do is high rep work and I tend to stick with one weight for the majority of the workout. The handle is also more conducive to high rep work and easier on the hands. 2) I purchased these in the middle of the pandemic and I was using kettlebell weight for lots of other lifts since I didn’t have many plates at the time. I couldn’t easily look away from all the extra weight there 24kg vs 32kg.

I went Kettlebell Kings (about $28 more than Titan after tax and free shipping) because black color fits my environment better (middle of living area). Competition style is more durable, and without a powder coat you can refinish the handle to get whatever grip you desire. Adjustments can be annoying if frequent though, and a 12 kg minimum weight might be too high for some users. On the plus side, the Kettlebell Kings/Titan max of 32 kg is higher than options like Rep's 24 kg max. Compared to dumbbells... Kettlebell Kings competition adjustable (or Titan) is like the Ironmaster concept, to me. True form factor, adjustable without gimmicky things like plastic or nylon parts spinning inside that may or may not last. Reps light adjustable option might be a good supplement to Kettlebell Kings adjustable competition to cover lighter weights.

@@cucciafr68 It's not that I want branding, but not having it really whereas their other products do just make the product seem even more generic or something - like they don't want to be associated with it. But more likely, unlike Titan, their logo is round. Titan's is more horizontal so they can get it lower near the center of the kettlebell where Kings can't without going over the split (and going over would look bad, cause alignment issues, etc.) so I guess I'm good with it now that I've thought it through.

You missed the Hyperbell kettlebell handle from Jayflex fitness. It has a multi-positional handle that holds up to a 100 lbs dumbbell, which makes it superior to the Kettlegryp, which does not have a multi-positional handle and is supposed to hold up to a 55 lbs dumbbell. The Hyperbell kettlebell handle currently costs $49 compared to $34.95 for the Kettlegryp.

Came to say the same thing. I have the Hyperbell and it’s pretty legit! It’s a lot more bulky than traditional kettlebells but that’s to be expected as it’s just a multi position kettle grip for dumbbells. I do recommend it though. Same w the other Jayflex dumbbell accessories.

Old guy here--mid 70s. My whole adult life has been cardio focused (marathons, triathlons, and now just long distance swimming). HOWEVER. Old guys lose muscle mass, and I really noticed it. I started personal training recently to get some muscle mass back--or at least stabilize the loss. My trainer is a kettlebell fan, and so I decided to get an adjustable. Where to go?? I stumbled upon your excellent reviews, and even though my brand bias was bowflex (I have the dumbells) I was still unsure. Well, your review changed that--I decided to go with REP and ordered from their site. My kettlebell arrived today, and I couldn't be happier!! My neigbors must have wondered what I was swinging around my front door! I don't need the heavier one--but this 40 pounder will sit by my bed for spontaneous workouts! Thanks for saving me from Titan!

@DampRaccoon
@DampRaccoon 2 жыл бұрын
Via their site, the "MBPC Power Pin allows you to swing from 15-200lbs (using 25’s)" - so to achieve that weight you'd want to have 8x25s on hand which I'd imagine many don't. Also, can't use with the size of bumpers, and need iron (as most here probably use anyway). Just noting my observations because I was intrigued at first - seems like an otherwise great product for any psychos swinging 200 lbs.

Nice roundup Coop. Only three come to mind that weren't included but they're real oldies and I'm not sure most folks would even be interested. Those would be the Kettlestack, the old Ivanko "kettle bell" handle along with variants of it from other companies, and finally one that Ironmind used to offer. These were all standard plate loadable handle variants. As far as modern and fancy goes though I do believe you got it covered. Edit: two more just came to mind. They would be Iron Woody's version of the Kettlestack called the Kettle Grip, and their KettleShell. Those two I'm positive are still available.

*By functional I mean you can comfortably swing or carry it **bestgym.equipment** around as one would expect of a kettlebell weight. By versatile I mean the protective coating does not prevent attaching magnetic micro-plates to increase the weight, so, for example, a 35 pound kettlebell can be increased by up to 5 pounds in weight or possibly a bit more by attaching magnetic micro-plates.*

For most kettlebell routines, you don't increase the weight across sets unlike dumbbells or barbells so you don't need a ton of quick adjustability. On the other hand, you need a good handle that fits a 45-degree handle comfortably without any adjustments/protrusions getting in the way. Those are the 2 aspects you need to consider.

Thanks Coop! I actually started with the "Vers-A-Bell" which was a budget friendly option for me at the time. It uses a pin adjustment system versus a dial. The weight range is 16-36lbs in 4lb increments. The shell is hard plastic (which I was nervous of at first) but they have held up over 2 years of pretty frequent use and abuse. Once I realized I needed more than 36lbs I opted for the Titan Competition adjustable kettlebell and agree, changing the weight is a pain, but I primarily use it in the 24kg configuration so I'm not changing it all that often (but can if I want to ramp up to the full 32kg or down). I got the Titan on a super sale for under $200 so I couldn't pass it up, but I think I may look into the REP Fitness adjustables you reviewed so I can have a pair of those versus buying another Titan adjustable. Thanks for the great review and go check out the Vers-A-Bell for another budget adjustable kettlebell option.

HELPFUL TIP: I have one of “budget style” ones he was saying suck at the end. It doesn’t suck at all, you just have to be a little smart. Here’s how you solve the 2 problems he was whining about in 2 minutes. 1. Which Plate? He said you have to remember which plate you took out. Here’s the simple 30 second fix. Take a sharpie, number each plate 1 through 6. I put 1 on top, then 2, and so on. Problem INSTANTLY solved. Should the manufacturer do that? Of course, but it is SUPER easy to fix. 2. How much weight? He said you don’t know how much each plate weighs. Same thing, weigh each plate, mark each plate with a sharpie. Note: To make them look better, instead of a sharpie, you can use a label maker. My first one I did with a sharpie, it worked. Next one I bought I used a label maker and it looks much better than my handwriting. As great as his reviews are, these were dumb reasons to say they suck. They don’t. Sometimes minor tweaks can solve simple problems, you just have to use that all important muscle… your brain 💪🧠

I used to train with ‘real cast iron’ kettlebells years ago. I recently bought the Bowflex kettlebell. It’s a good compromise. The main drawback I find however is in the shape and the angular adjustment knob on the top I find when I use the bell in the rack position to press it digs into the side of my bicep so much so that it’s been bruising my arm, so tend not to do the rack to press. If the bell was more rounded and had less edges it could be better. Also the handle is a bit thin and can get quite slippery especially when sweaty. Thanks for the reviews.

I think you hit all the important points when it comes to kettlebells. I don't like going adjustable because often times they either look weird/sit poorly in rack position or are really cumbersome to adjust. On top of that, durability is a concern. I know that when I buy a competition kettlebell that it's probably going to outlast me and many generations after me whereas with most adjustable kettlebells I'm kinda wary. From what I've seen, the Rep bells are the best, but at that price point you can get yourself some nice hollow 16kg and 24kg bells. If you really need the 18 and 20kg (I'd say most people don't), then it's a good pick, but plastic always breaks at some point no matter how well you treat it. I'd just recommend a 16kg, 24kg and 28/32kg set if you want to have kettlebells you'll use all your life, go up/down 4~6kg depending on how fit you are when starting out. With those 3 you'll probably spend around $300 to have something that will last you a lifetime.

The REP fitness look really good, but they are pricey. the lighter Kg is not bad with the sale price of 129

I picked up my Titan Fitness adjustable kb over a year ago for $199 plus tax. Yeah the adjustment is kind of annoying. The fit isnt great and the finish isn't perfect...buy the handle is smooth! Kettlebells also get dropped, used outside, clanged together (they all will chip around the middle if you do any dual kb stuff) Sure the KB Kings one is nicer at $299, and Titan raised theirs to $235 so the price gap isn't as dramatic, but being able to go from 12kg to 32kg in one product is such a great deal. Titan doesn't mark the plates which weight or order to load. If this bothers you, just put masking tape on and write the weight on that. Or use white out and mark the plates. In theory you could load smaller fractional plates inside if you wanted less than 1kg jumps. I'd rather get the most out of my fitness equipment not have it be the prettiest

I use one of the cheap ones you mentioned at the end. The biggest downside comes when doing overhead work. If you don't keep the top plate on the plastic lips digs in to your arm. It also puts your wrist in an awkward position that is uncomfortable. If you leave the top plate on the issue is mitigated quite a bit. The one I have has the weight in lbs and kg on the plate. The plate also has a number for the shelf position. So, a quick look at the plate and a bit of math make adjustments easy. Also I weighed it fully loaded and found it was only .3 pounds off from the stated weight. So, it is accurate to 1%. They aren't perfect, but more than usable for someone looking to see if they want to add kettlebells to their training. After a month mine is still working as intended.

Powerblock should have decided the focus would be swings, squat/deadlift variations, walks/etc. and placed the handle the other way as Sir Coop suggested. Their standalone adjustable block could then fill in for overhead stuff for those that want it. I'd rather have something be really good at a couple of things vs. medicore at everything.

They don't review plate loaded stuff much on this channel, especially if it is "standard" plates. Even though it is much cheaper. I have several hundred pounds of standard plates collected over the years, and three or four sets of spin lock handles and the adjustable kettlebell, you can cover a lot of ground. I have a good quality Oly set too, but the standard plates are very versatile when it comes to dbs and kettlebell. They work in my plate loaded high low pulley system attached to my power rack. (Two 50s and 6 25s).

I have both sizes of the Rocketlok Adjustable Kettlebells. They are decently nice, but definitely not amazing. The cap to hold the weight is plastic and sometimes hard to take off. The coating has chipped off in a few places over the 4 or so years I have had them. But they are a normal kettlebell shape on one side and are very sturdy and durable so far. Not sure how easy they are to buy but I got mine off FB Marketplace.

I like about the better Powerblock KB that it looks very simple with a solid steel rod holding the plates. I don't trust dumbbells with plastic wheels and I surely don't trust KBs with that system. Dynamic overhead movements with KBs require more safety than that.

I purchased the rogue loadable kettle bell (as I love their loadable dumbbell design) and I agree that it is very poorly designed. Not only does it feel uncomfortable when doing TGU or presses, but you cannot put a collar on it as they made the sleeve too slim. This is a bizarre choice as they frequently market it with collars on it on their website. I ended up just biting the bullet and purchasing a set of 16, 24, and 32kg kettlebells off of kettlebell kings. It sucks that I can’t use the weights I already have, but the difference is night and day. the Rogue handle has since been demoted to things like rows, Carrie’ S, and side bends.

IMO, the most reasonable answer here for anyone who is or wants to be strong enough to press over 24kg is the Kettlebell Kings adjustable competition bell. Mentioning the Titan adjustable competition kettlebell and not including the vastly superior Kettlebell Kings version that it directly copies is... an odd choice. The Kettlebell Kings one has way better fit and finish, includes labeled plates, and goes up to 32kg. Much better at the price point than almost all other options, although the Rep ones seem nice if you never intend to go over 24kg.

@mp7064
@mp7064 2 жыл бұрын
@@antonipoblocki Sure, but that's the case with every titan product - it's the same design as something else, but cheaper and lower quality. My real complaint is picking the incorrect product out of the category and saying the fit and finish isn't there as a knock on it. Of course the fit and finish is bad - it's Titan. It's like suggesting people not buy a Rogue trap bar because the Titan one is the same thing, but done poorly. Moreso than any of that I'm bummed that this video might drive people to buy a fairly disappointing product instead of paying the extra $70 or so for something that's actually worth paying for and should cover most people's KB needs for life -- for a price lower than 2-3 heavy bells.

I really wish this review had come out a few days earlier. I just purchased a Bowflex 840 as that seemed like the best option for me. I had not heard of REP until just now and would definitely have picked their 20-40 lbs bell instead. BTW - on the bench in the first batch where you don’t recommend several options I see the JaxJox KB but it wasn’t mentioned at all. Would be interested in your thoughts on it. Dick’s has it on sale for $120 which is what I paid for the Bowflex.

I picked up the JaxJox dumbbells on a whim from Dick's and they're going right back to the store :D They're only adjustable via electronics which need to be charged and were super unreliable for me. Also a possible failure point and impossible to ever fix or use if it happens. I'd stick with something that's manually adjustable imo

@@sethhys Good to hear that the Bowflex worked out well for you. The REP might’ve been a better choice if I’d known about it but the 840 will be just fine for my current needs, especially since I got it for $120 including shipping from Amazon. I was curios that Coop didn’t mention the JaxJox KB but I agree with m p that Wi-Fi or Bluetooth electronics could be asking for trouble, however cool.

Having a 44 lb option for presses will be extra bonus. 53 is still a little heavy for high rep pressing

I was waiting on this one! I definitely agree that an adjustable kettlebell has to function equally as a normal kettlebell. My question is how durable are these? I know with adjustable dumbbells it’s an absolute that you can’t drop them, but for kettlebells that seems like a hindrance considering a lot of the movements are more dynamic and potentially damaging. I personally throw my kettlebells around like a sack of potatoes lol
