I have one of these, been using it for 18 months. I watched this video the first time you put it up (when I was deciding if I thought the Bowflex Max was really for me). I've been exercising all my life (cycling, weight-training, swimming, hiking, rowing). The Bowflex is my favourite piece of equipment (I often do an hour a day on it, in 2x30 minute sessions listening to my favourite dance music). I think that the manufacturers do a TERRIBLE job at marketing it. I ignore the HIIT aspect (I don't even have mine plugged in, the cheapest M3 model works even without electricity, I don't know about the fancier models). One thing I do is keep my eyes closed while using it, so I can concentrate on feeling different muscles working depending on where I have my hands placed, the stepping motion pretty much does the whole of the leg muscles). Considering I have a bone disease in my hips and was told to never run, skip or kick ball it's amazing that I can do such intensive leg exercise without a hint of pain. It's so convenient to have a stepper that also does triceps, lats, pecs too.

@@chiaricco6515 Hi I did an hour on it yesterday! Certainly with the M3 (i.e. the most basic model) one can adjust the resistance without electricity. I have a Garmin watch which monitors my heart rate and tells me what zone I'm in (so I don't care for any input from the Bowflex and its heart monitor). I start in Z1/Z2, but after 10 mins I'm anywhere between Z3 and Z5 depending on how much effort I put in and what resistance level. I rarely have it above level 3 (even after 18 months of use). What I find NO-ONE says/shows is that by moving one's torso closer to the display than this man shows, one can work lots of muscles in tricips/shoulders/upper back. The way he does it will use more lats/pecs. It's an amazing all-round machine. And I even do my 30 mins mostly with my eyes closed (listening to music), with eyes closed so I can actually concentrate on feeling which muscles are working. I honestly don't think anyone other than a crossfit prize winner needs resistance beyond level 4 (my basic model goes up to level 8 I think). IMO Bowflex should have ignored the HIT fad (it is a fad, promoted as a way to get couch potatoes to at least do 14 mins of exercise a day). Bowflex should have said: this 1 machine can replace 90% of what you would get from using every machine in an entire gym. Since every week I end up running/climbing the height of Everest, I've ended up with very muscular legs, something I never got from years in gyms. In fact, in 18 months I've ended up getting the best body of my entire life, and I'm in my 60s. I have my watch set to tell me my heart rate and my Zone every 3 minutes. That's when I change hand position from vertical to horizontal. One can even do biceps by having hands in the vertical position and gripping the handles from below. After an hour on my M3 my watch is telling me: do no exercise for 48 hours.

@@chiaricco6515 Sorry didn't see your reply until now. I bought the M3 as I knew I didn't want any of the fancy features, I knew I wanted to use it without electricity. The M3 has manual resistance control, I don't know about if the other ones all require electric. TBH even on Level 1 I think for people who are unused to hill walking it would be hard work without even increasing resistance. I vary the resistance between 1 to 4, never been higher than 4 in 20 months of using it.

I thought you said you were keeping everything in your life the same and would maintain caloric intake. but at the end you say it’s not just the machine but the results are a result of weight training and diet? 🤔

What's your point? At the begining of the video you can clearly see he works out already and eats healthy.

You must always balance aerobic exercise with diet and strength training.
