First day impressions:It arrived in a waist high box. kzbin.infoUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 Each dumbbell was in its own foam box within the shipping box. Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.

Is it possible to use lifting straps with the Bowflex dumbbells ? The main issue I think would be that when you need to tightly grip the straps, you rotate the dumbbell, but the Bowflex has uneven weight distribution and always must be held with the red handle at the top. Has anyone tried lifting straps ?

MightyMouse 327 i have the same doubt...so when he took it out at 40 and 25 what's the real weight?
@josephkreifelsii65967 жыл бұрын
leonardo benavides This is why some people should stay away from the gym and weights #facepalm 40 and 25 makes: 20 pounds on one side and 12.5 on the other. It creates an off balance effect to work your muscle group in a different way, depending on the exercise you are doing.
@K9V2D9 жыл бұрын
Let's say you wanna put 27.5 do u have to 7.5 on one side n 20 on the other?
@willm30278 жыл бұрын
no.. its basically half the weight.. for example 20ibs. you adjust 20ibs on each side. the total weight is 20ibs. so each side is basically 10ibs
@willm30278 жыл бұрын
+bob ob I thought the same at first, but ive tried it. Each side is basically half of what it says. If you want 40ibs you adjust both to 40.
@willm30278 жыл бұрын
+Jpegwun 420 Each side has a number so that it will be balanced for the weight you want. For example if you put 5 on each side, that means its 5 ibs for the total weight of the dumbbell. So really each side is 2.5, making a total of 5ibs. 50ibs is the highest it goes for this dumbbell. There is another set that goes to 90+ibs i believe.
@willm30278 жыл бұрын
+Jpegwun 420 I believe so.. I bought a used pair in a garage sale. Its cool at first but after using it for awhile i dont like it. I would go back to regular dumbbells or a barbell whenever i get a chance.
@willm30278 жыл бұрын
+Jpegwun 420 Well everything has its pros and cons, both are good so its hard to choose one. I would say dumbbells because one side will be more stronger because of our dominant hands. You can use dumbbells to strengthen your weaker side to fix the unbalance.

really don';t get why you would pay so much extra compared to the basic dumbbells with replacable weights. You'll have to rest between sets anyway.
@roottmp7 жыл бұрын
That and the range op motion with this think is fairly limited + most people bench way more then 100 kg/200, use single hand dumbel rows way over 60kg/120 pound, etc. pound after 1 year of training (if they take it seriously). Leaving this thing only usable for only a handfull of concentration exercised and still requiring you to buy an standard adjustable set for you bigger muscle groups.
@XSevenSonata7 жыл бұрын
@Zend Mij My triceps are weaker than my biceps. Because of that, I have to use less weight to stay in my rep range for my triceps. I'm not lazy, but, it gets annoying having to take collars and plates off my dumbbells and put them back on when I'm working from biceps and triceps. I know that I'd still technically be selecting the weight level on "adjustable" dumbbells, but, it seems more convenient. I could simply purchase multiple dumbbells or dumbbell handles, but, that adds up in price, too. I agree that not just the bowflex, but, other adjustable dumbbells are far too expensive for me, though.
@wallaceja097 жыл бұрын
It is so that you can save space, lots of people either don't have the space or don't want to bother with the space a full set of weights takes up
@XSevenSonata7 жыл бұрын
@Johnathan Two bowflex handles with the included 40lbs of weight pates takes up the same space as two normal handles and 40lbs of weight plates. Its more for convenience and speed being able to swap plates quickly and easily.
@wallaceja097 жыл бұрын

Not only does it look fragile. Plastic is always a bad idea in heavy weight products. Especially the weight adjust wheels are the first to crack. But it also looks hella dangerous! I don't expect the weights to "simply" fall off. But yeah, can you ever feel save with this system? Its like walking around with dynamite in your hand. Does it go off? No, normally it doesn't. But the possibility is always there! Its all about how you feel about it. And i personally would never feel save, lifting one of these above my head region. sorry, failed by design
