This is a really helpful video. I am preparing sautielle bowing for Csárdás and soooo want to use your tip to practice right now! But it's 12:15am here in Australia and my roommates would kill me😆😆

I have been trying for over a month to produce Sautille. I finally got it! Of course, the beauty of my tone is not where I'd like it to be. I am just glad that I can finally do it. However, I was practicing it using Kreutzer #8 as demonstrated in this video. My bicep muscles in my upper arm get so sore very quickly. I am sure, that once I am more comfortable with Saultille, I will be more relaxed. I am wondering though if this is normal? Perhaps I am trying to hard or do my muscles need time to develop muscle memory to be able to do this for prolonged periods of time? Please advise! I am working on grade 8 RCM repertoire. I'd really like to play Czardas for my List C piece but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to "master" sautille in a year or so. I may play "Salut d'Amour" as it has no sautille.

Hi Trevor, if you feel tension in our bicep, sometimes simply lowering your arm ( upper arm) can help you to stay relaxed. I hope you can try. Happy practising!

What is the difference between fast spiccato and sautille Is it just the speed?
@alandoan16403 жыл бұрын
The entire comment section is here for the sautille part of czardas lmao My main problem is that I get too legato sometimes, instead of bouncing

Hi Alan, try to place the bow in the middle and use very short bows with flexible wrist. Sautille can take some time to develop , but practicing on open string every day even for a short time can do wonders. Happy practising!

Can you demonstrate 1 sautille per note?
@JoyLeeViolin5 жыл бұрын
Hi Nikos, since sautille stroke is such a fast bow stroke, it's very hard to play only one sautille stroke. One could try though :) Happy practising!

whether sautille speed equals tremolo speed?
@JoyLeeViolin5 жыл бұрын
sautille can be slow or fast, whereas tremolo is somewhat in the same speed. So, no they are not always in the same speed.

Is sautille the same as tremolo
@JoyLeeViolin5 жыл бұрын
No, they are different Jonathan. The sound of sautille is disconnected whereas the sound of trill is connected.

How do you keep the bow from going on to the finger board when doing sautille?
@JoyLeeViolin4 жыл бұрын
Simply looking at the bow during sautille can help. Also try to keep using very short amount of the bow. Happy practising!

When I try this, I find that my wrist aren’t moving fast enough and it keeps lagging. Advice?
@JoyLeeViolin5 жыл бұрын
Hi RisingKHero, try to check whether your right thumb is curved and relaxed. A flexible curved right thumb plays an important role in many advanced bow strokes like this one. Happy practising!
