Bowled again, thank you driver!! 5043 at Smethwick Galton Bridge, 01/06/24.

1Z43 Tyseley - Liverpool Lime Street, with 47773 at rear. Also 730009 on a Wolverhampton - New St.
Over the years there have been many considerate drivers who have waited a few seconds so as not to spoil things for people watching a steamer. I remember places such as Gravelly Hill, Small Heath & Stourbridge when the driver has kindly avoided blocking the view - and we always give them a smile & a wave.

Thanks. Yes, you didn't have to worry about being bowled at Crewe being on the same platform, but I suppose we have to take a gamble sometimes.

Yes, unfortunately being on a curve it's a very brief shot from the other platform. Probably would've done better at t'other end of my platform.

Why weren't you on the same side as the steamy? We sometimes like a surprise teaser from the unseen approaching engine. You wouldn't have been bowled at all.

Friend of mine was on the other platform, you'll probably see his video sometime. It's too short a view on the inside of the curve, same as at Cradley, that's why I avoid it. More of a "memorable" video when something goes wrong!!

@@SharposWorld That's what makes a steamy's appearance more magical. It's good when the steamy first teases us with an echoing whistle in the distance. A cloud of white smoke appears over the treetops, leaving us to guess what's coming. Next time, be on the same side as the steamy so you don't get bowled. Let the engine tease and surprise you with her whistle, and a cloud of white smoke. We love being surprised by the appearance of a steam engine. It's wonderful.

@@kellyashfordtrains2642 At least the shot of it approaching lasted quite a long time, probably longer than at shot of a similar train at Cradley would be without being bowled, that is the disadvantage of tracks on a curve.
