I'm completely on the OP's side in story 4. The SIL asked for the OP's camera, she said no...and yet the SIL still freaking took it anyway! And her wretched excuse for a HUSBAND allowed this! The SIL has some serious entitlement issues here. And that husband is no better. It's completely the SIL's fault that the OP's camera got stolen. To be honest, I wouldn't put it past the SIL to have planned on that. Not the camera having been stolen...but to have given it away. Maybe to a friend of hers. My advice to the OP? Press that lawsuit. That entitled witch can either spend money to replace the camera, or spend some time behind bars. And definitely leave that pathetic husband. He's as useless as a softball at a bowling alley. And you can do SO much better than him.

Honestly - the way they executed such harmonious stories... You may be right. It did say the sil broke her boyfriends PS, so a 2k camera 50%off would be a quick "here's your money if you drop criminal charges". Op should definitely divorce, not yesterday, but last year... This will get exceedingly worse, not so much the sil, but the Toxic game her husband is playing. This is not the first red flag. Hopefully it will be the last.

I don't think the husband would have overreacted if there wasn't already what sounds like a significant history of his wife doing things like this. Also it sounds like the place for the picture is supposed to be in the nursery. Instead she decided to take down an important picture in her and his room to replace it with something else, without consulting the husband first.
@dm8391
@dm8391 Жыл бұрын
I gotta agree with the OP on story #6, your husband is just as guilty not anyone can just go and easily replace a 2,000 dollar camera ,especially since the fact you directly told her no and your husband let her take it. That’s not right in anyway, because it shows they both have no respect for you or your wishes as well as your property so honestly suing her for it is the right thing to do l. It doesn’t matter if she’s “family”, that title is earned whether they are blood or not so I would give the ultimatum of replacing the camera asap with the same value as your old one or take her straight to court even if it affects your marriage because who’s to say he won’t do it again and continue to side with his sister down the line , especially if it will involve you in some way

Camera story: op need to sue her, she stole op's camera and doesn't want to pay back what it's worth. That literally is a theft. And that husband, that is so toxic man, she really should dump him also. There is no excuse, he should be one hundred percent on his wife's side and he should be the one who demand that his sister will pay that camera. And it doesn't even matter that she is "family", if you steal something, you will pay it back, either with money or with jail time. Sometimes small and seemingly insignificant issues can reveal deeper and more serious problems in relationship. Last story: OP's Bf either had a poor childhood which is how he was so determined to do well to afford the stuff and comforts he didn't have as a child or the Bf had parents that denied much of his childhood wants so he was motivated into being well independent to get the childhood he was denied. Either way, men want to keep playing even during our adult years no matter how childlish the hobby may seem. A lot of "adult" hobbies like drinking, going to bars and partying are quite self destructive. Most women enjoy these social events but men aren't as inclined. A simple board game, tabletop game, Legos, or playing using our imaginations with collectible figures or stuffed toys can do wonders of enjoyment.

That last story is super toxic towards the woman, who the hell cares if a grown man collects stuffed animals. I have a Teddy Bear I've had since I was 7 years old, 20 years I've had that bear. 20. There is some patches on him due to my siblings wanting him but couldn't because of how I got to own the bear, but after they knew they couldn't have it they tried to destroy it like 'If I can't have him no one will' and then there is the other sibling who didn't want the bear, they just tried to ruin him because I didn't submit to their attacks and they got upset I wouldn't let them play on my Xbox 360 that was in my room as a bribe to move down to the basement. Now that we are all adults I just have to worry about my niece and nephew now. I still sleep with the bear, it's my comfort item in my life. Anyways, just because a grown man talks to his bear doesn't mean his immature!

Absolutely astounding! First the sister in law steals OP’s very expensive camera that she needs for work! She stole from family! Then she lost the camera putting OP on the hook for thousands of dollars and in a position where her livelihood is compromised and she refused to pay for a replacement! She caused a member of her family serious financial hardship and refused to fix the issue. Now they’re saying she can’t sue and is painting her as the bad guy in the grounds of FAMILY LOYALTY?! People who don’t treat you like family have absolutely no grounds to demand you treat them like family! OP needs to send a group chat to all of her in-laws saying this- “You are right (husbands name) family shouldn’t sue family. You know what else family doesn’t do? Family doesn’t take things without the owners permission. But your sister does. Frequently! So far she has taken, (list items,) and I have said nothing and replaced them all because “we’re family”. If your sister had acted like family and hadn’t stolen my camera I’d have nothing to sue her for. You know what else family doesn’t do? They don’t act carelessly with something of immense fiscal, professional and sentimental significance to the relative the thing they are “borrowing” or more aptly here, stealing, belongs to. But she did! You can go on if you want about “her emotional state” but acting responsibly even when you’re emotional is all part of being a rational adult! If she’s not enough of a responsible adult to do that then maybe she isn’t a mature enough to go to the beach with her boyfriend while carrying a $2,000.00 piece of equipment she doesn’t even own! So now we have two points against her involving acting like family but she could still redeem herself by taking responsibility and setting it right, because another thing family doesn’t do, they don’t cause massive expenses or hardships to a member without trying to set it right! But she made no attempt to make it right, she just blamed the boyfriend and expected me to pay to replace the $2,000.00 camera she lost the same way I replaced everything of mine she lost! That’s not how family believes. We already have strike 3 but thanks to you it continues. Family doesn’t throw family loyalty aside when it’s inconvenient then pick it up and use it as a shield when it is and gaslight anyone they hurt ignoring family loyalty and try to gaslighting them into feeling bad for demanding what’s theirs be returned. Which both you my dear husband and you my sweet sister have done to me. I’m done, absolutely DONE, treating people like family while they treat me like dirt! Stepping on me without thought, kicking out my lumps when they seem unsightly and picking plants out of me with no consideration of any claim I may have to them or desire I may have to keep them. (Husband’s name) you have 3 days to bring me the $2,000 for a new camera. If you don’t bring it I WILL sue your sister, I WILL divorce you and I might even file criminal charges for theft depending on whether or not I have cooled down by then. When you get here we can talk about where to go. If you want to divorce me for not being your doormat I am done with that! If you wanna try to salvage our marriage I’m willing to discuss it but as things stand right now they’re not looking good. Either way I will be getting $2,000 for my camera back! Before anyone comes at me for destroying my marriage over $2,000 it’s not about that! I opened my home and in return I was robbed. I trusted her and I lost something I hold dear. I stood up for myself and was painted as the bad guy! This marriage is in serious jeopardy because I am being mistreated, manipulated and gaslit and will NOT accept this as something that will happen regularly in our relationship! I have shared this with the entire family to see what they think. If my husband wants to reconcile it will help me decide whether to agree to take him back. Will his family agree that this is a messed up situation and reparations are in order? Will they keep their dead’s down and go along as normal? Or will they join the fun chastising me for not lying down and taking the abuse like a good little doormat? I’d like to get a clearer look at the family I married into!” Then she just has to sit back, watch and wait.

Story 1: The manager asn't a jerk but certainly a dunce. The lane definitely should've been shut down if the OP's ball was getting damaged like that. The OP and the repair guy played the manager well on getting the Excalibur ball as well. Well done! Story 2: If a Karen isnt a customer, they are the customer service rep. It is possible she was having an off day, especially during covid, but she did seem like a bit of a bat too. Story 3: That manager should've been fired over this debacle. Another case of focusing on pennies and losing out on dollars. Good thing the OP kept his job, especially since he was just following what his stupid manager said. Can't get mad at him for that in the long run. Story 4: This is 100% the SIL's fault here. She took that $2000 camera from the OP, without permission here, so she was responsible for anything that happened to it. The brother and SIL are clearly trying to just brush it off, but im' sure they will be singing a different song if and when they get sued. SIL deserves absolutely zero sympathy and should pay to replace the camera. Story 5: I can understand the mother being upset on losing her husband here, but if the guy was not a good stepfather to her kids, then they are totally in the right for not grieving him. I know my dad never shed a single tear over the passing of his abusive stepfather. Story 6: Yea i think OP is over-reacting here, and big time. I get that the painting was sentimental, but the wife is going to put is back after a quick display of her sisters drawing. OP isn't a jerk, but needs to mellow out big time. Story 7: Let him have his teddy bears. Geez. I'llamdmit it is a bit weird he got upset and cried and talked to them over the OP's comments, especially since these are newer bears, and not ones from early childhood, but let him have something he likes.

for 6 the OP said that she keeps picking her family over him so this is something they have talked about by taking down their antislavery picture to put her sister's up , he feels like she is again saying her sister is more important then him. it would be like her always taking her family side in arguments.

Story 4: From the sounds of it, SIL is not worth the trouble of trying to keep a good relationship with her, you should sue her. Not only was she was being incredibly irresponsible with stuff you use for work, she also got them through theft. And the husband is clearly not a winner either, he helped his sister with stealing and is enabling her behavior. Story 5: Can't really blame the kids for not looking sad when they're not sad at all. I mean, if someone passes away who you were forced to live with and was a bit of a jerk, I wouldn't expect a kid to be sad in the slightest. I believe the mother was overreacting but I can't really blame her given that she just lost her husband. Story 6: OP is overreacting. Not only is he freaking out over a painting, the wife also said she would put it back after one night. Had she planned to move it permanently, I think the husband should have been consulted, but that was not the case here. Story 7: OP is a massive jerk. Everyone has their own quirks and some of them may not be normal to you, but that's your problem, so suck it up. It doesn't sound like this teddy bear thing is doing anyone harm, so I see no problem with it. OP is an awful girlfriend.

Story 6: insecure vibes? Really narrator how female bias can you be. The wife did not talk to the husband about moving the piece. This has the same weight as if OP moved a family heirloom to the closet or attic. This is a really bad take imo. That said, honestly, OP is sorta at fault here. Clearly, to OP, his wife siding with her family so much is an issue. Now, while I believe family comes first (beyond the wife), I do think that if this is how he felt, instead of trying to change her, he should have either accepted it and taken the L or left the relationship. So is the wife the jerk? Yes. Did OP do this to himself? Basically. ----- Story 7: So is OP wrong for wanting her bf to stop with the teddy bears? No not really. I mean it is weird given their age and such. Also if the bf wanted OP to move in with him at some point they would obviously need to move. Also, hosting get-togethers would be difficult. So for all these reasons I get it. That said, it is not dumb. Also how OP approached it was bad. OP took an aggressive stance from the start. Teddy bear or not, no one responds well to that. If OP has such an issue with it, I say just leave. The bears mean alot to the BF so if he discarded them resentment would eventually grow. Just treat it as it is...a boundary. OP wants a guy with age-appropriate hobbies which is fine. Just leave and find someone that fits the bill. It is ultimately better then trying to force things. That said, OP is the jerk for being so aggressive.
@docomega7862
@docomega7862 Жыл бұрын
W for story 6 opinion, but massive L on story 7. Who cares if he has teddy bears? He has built himself a very stable life and has this particular hobby on the side. If it bothers the OP it's her right, but to treat him like a child and be aggressive about something that isn't even that important is weird and entitled. They aren't a good fit for each other and should leave it at that. Nobody cares about grown adults collecting and playing with lego, or table top games minifigurines, so how is the teddy bear any different?
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd Жыл бұрын
@@docomega7862 unfortunately, alot of people are going to care. It is just reality. It is fine if OP cares but what is not fine is giving the man grief over it, which is the basis of my opinion. As much as we want to say “it is okay” to have weird hobbies it does make life harder and that is just objective fact. It makes it harder for get-togethers or parties to occur. Also moving in is not a single person choice. If she is not comfortable with the bears it would have to be discussed. So for all those reasons if, for Op, the teddy bears are a deal breaker that is fine. I just dont think it is fine to be aggressive when confronting someone on their hobbies.

I like how the man reading the story is going soft on the 4th story on the SIL. Like did he forget that OP had LOCKED her office because the SIL has a habit of stealing from her? Yeah no sympathy from me at all. Like dude you STOLE FROM HER!? A frickin $2,000 DOLLARS CAMERA and you think she should just get away with it!? F NO!? She needs learn the consequences of her actions and if doesn’t pays then jail! Idc if you’re family or not you can’t just steal from steal a very expensive thing from family and not be expected to pay it back!? The one with the guy having bears. What’s wrong with a man having teddy bears? Many women who are like 50 or so have teddy bears too so why is it weird for a man to have teddy bears? People make no sense there should be no reason for a grown man to have to explain to his girlfriend that he has teddy bears when women can have teddy bears without needing a reason at all.

The story about the painting I think you're misunderstanding why the husband is upset. He's upset because she thought nothing of moving it to put up her sister painting even though she could have just hung it somewhere else in the room or placed on a dresser. In his eyes, this was her showing again that their relationship comes second and is not seen as important in her eyes. I doubt she just figured out how much that picture meant to him if they have been going to therapy already, so move a picture she claimed she was just going to put back up anyway? This is her showing him she doesn't value the relationship like he does again also its not just her home she could have talked with him first. She sounds like she doesn't include him in decisions as much as she should because, again, she did this knowing how he feels about how she treats her family vs the relationship. Imo this sounds a little intentional because i don't see her not knowing this would upset him knowing the issues they have in their relationship.

It was probably sold to pay for breaking the bf Xbox and/or more. She sold it. Or traded it. A 2k camera, sold for 1k or 750. She sold it to avoid a lawsuit, settle a lawsuit or have charges dropped. That's why they were so synced.

I have to say the first story with the bowling ball I think both parties were kind of scummy and kind of jerks but that’s just my opinion So far, I think we’ve had two stories back to back where the op is a little scummy he literally in the bike story kind of stole from the store. She said will call you in when your bike is ready and then he’s like OK grab his bike and ride away without paying she said will call you it she never said your bike at Stockton so yes, he basically stole from the store. I have to say maybe my situation is different but I’m kind of with the op boyfriend the one with the teddy bear I’m 22 and I have a stuffed bear from childhood. I actually have three of them. I got them at different times in my life one I was like six or seven the other one I got when I was like nine or 10 and the last one I got when I was like 13 or 14 I don’t remember if I said or not I am 22 and sometimes when I’m having a really hard time because I struggle. I struggle with depression and anxiety occasionally so sometimes when I’m in a really bad place, I do talk to them I met again maybe it’s different I collect plushes also, they are all Pokémon, but sometimes one again when I have a hard time I talk to them, so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it
