The tip about using the tape's backing as a "tool" to install the tape is great!

I took about a 6yr break and recently got back into casually going with my wife, and putting a piece of black over my white tape has really helped keep me from over gripping in the thumb. It also helped fill the last bit of gap from my thumb shrinking. Lol It probably wouldn't be ideal for anyone who tapers their tape or uses the half-piece, but I only needed a single piece of each to get back to snug.

What is the best way to layer tape. I need to use like 5 pieces as my thumb changes so much Thank you.

One thing you did not cover in the video is the depth of the first layer of tape in my experience if you put the tape in the hole and it's closer to the surface of the ball then you will get more drag on the front of the thumb and the deeper into the thumb hole you go with the first pice the less drag on the front of the thumb, I find that really makes a difference depending on the day, it could really make a difference as to how your thumb clears the ball.

Absolutely! If we do a remake of this video, we will include that. Thx for the feedback

One explanation I like is that with an overtight grip the thumb bend inward; this is one reason that the thumb "sticks". Ideally, you will curl your thumb the other direction (like you're hitchhiking). By layering up the tape deeper in the hole with more layers, it "encourages" your thumb to this shape. I'm still working on a new ball, but this seems to be the case.

How do you get old tape out of the thumb hole?
@VirtueBowlingSupply Жыл бұрын
Either an insert tape tool (virtuebowling.com/product/master-tape-insert-tool/) or a small flat head screwdriver. Certain brands of tape, if left in the ball for a long time or left in the car will leave adhesive behind once removed. If this happens, acetone on a thin rag or cloth wrapped around the screwdriver or tape tool will help get the adhesive out. Hope this helps!

Seeing those finger grips above the ball makes me wanna puke. I don't care if it was done by an PSO or you have a 220+ avg it looks so amateurish

Hahaha, totally feel ya on that one! This was a customers ball that had not been picked up yet. We hadn’t glued the grips in yet. We have them test the size and if it’s good then we glue them in flush! Nice catch though! Thanks for watching!
