I like these new rules on layouts. It prevents other bowlers switching from 1 hand to 2 hand and vice versa. Or switching from using thumb to no thumb.

That's not true you just keep a ball with a thumb and one without

@@ChevyRedneckGFX In terms of layouts it is true.,. what you stated is a whole new ball. not a layout

The VAL angle is completely different on those 2 layouts because of the fixed 1 1/2" down from the pin to the ring finger line. I'd be willing to bet those 2 balls act completely different for each theoretical bowler.

I am a no thumb bowler. I am also inexperienced when it comes to understanding the complexity of drilling and positioning. How do I work with my local pro shop to ensure that they are drilling my ball to match my play style.

Let them know that you want the PAL layouts used and have them look at the layout sheets. It’s a different process but any PSO can learn it it in one ball.

Love it as I am a two-hander. Can you go more into how they roll and how to get different reactions from different layouts

I am a one handed no thumber. I recently bought a Phantom and an Outlook which I plan to have drilled like a short pin. I am rev dom with a ball speed about 13-15 mph. I do not know my numbers but I am a high track bowler. I was wondering if there is anything that can be suggested to help me get these drilled correctly as I struggle on low volume, short oil and drier lane conditions. Thanks!

Get high RG low diff balls. I bought a very cheap Brunswick meanstreak on eBay that’s beautiful on dry conditions but I shot my first 200 plus game with a Brunswick Umotion on a dry lane. That ball is Urethane. Look up Radical drill specs and Mo has one that’s for length and control. That’s probably best for dry conditions as you don’t want your ball hooking too early.

With no thumb drilled in the ball are you allowed to have 3 finger holes? Ring middle pointer....??

I got a bowling ball, Roto Grip Hustle. I told the guy I do not use my thumb and I want a ball that does not hook too much. He drilled a thumb hole and did not see me bowl prior to drilling my ball. His reasoning for the thumb hole, "I need to pick up the ball" my ball hooks a lot I been trying to work with it but its tough. Did he ruin my first bowling ball purchase?

Im a no thumb bowler.. but still get my balls drilled as if I use my thumb, for ease of carrying and picking up and moving them. And aslo occasionally if one of my friends wants to roll one.

I would love to understand why the pap is only 2inches down but that would put the mass bias on the left side of the ball below fingers. I’ve had several balls drilled with similar layouts and similar pap to the one on the right in this video & ALL OF THEM ARE FLAT & weak with no backend motion. This includes redemption pearl - axiom pearl - strata hybrid & omega crux. Thank god I bought a black widow it’s the only ball that rolls good at all & doesn’t look like a spare ball & for some reason it was accidentally drilled with pin & mass bias stacked on right side (similar to one hander layouts). I’ve been to several shops talked to some high level bowlers & for the life of me can’t find something that works other than the BW - Pap 4&3/4 2&5/16 down…. 16mph good revs Should I just keep the Mass Bias on the right with pin or kick it out farther right even though all research & “science” says otherwise.

All the no thumb layouts we use call for 5" to 6.75" MB to PAP distance... with those numbers and your pap, the mb should almost never be right of the fingers... the flat reaction you are seeing is why we don't use shorter MB distances in the system. Science agrees with you sir!
