I love bowling with Rubber! Being a Classic Full Roller, rubber is natural for me on dry lanes. Actually, even to this day, the most strikes I have ever gotten in a row (10) was done with rubber. Thank you for this vintage video. It was fun! Nice 3 game series.

Love the video, I have a 300 on synthetic with an original LT-48 in a tournament about 6-7 years ago, bowl on wood now and I think people don't realize how playable some of the old balls are, on wood the game really hasn't changed so much since our house was built in 1958! I still shop for FABALL on ebay and have been known to toss a mineralite once in a while.

I'm going to miss your dad so much, he changed the way I bowl and I shot my first 300 2 weeks ago with the oval thumb he changed me to in a performance fit 6 years ago. My condolences to you and your family, Mo will be forever the game changer when it comes to bowling.

Used to bowl with just an ebonite Gyro Don Carter 2. That thing was a beast. As long as you stood on the first board you pretty much had the whole lane of miss room on a house shot. I think I averaged about 215 with it and I shot my first perfect game with it. Now no one is willing to drill it because of the fumes but I love that bowling ball.

We, at Westminster Bowling Supply, will drill any bowling ball! We actually drilled a rubber ball a few days ago. Gotta give all bowling equipment love.

Great video! I know nearly zero about drilling (why I watch you!). I still hace my dad"# Tornado fron when he tsught me to bowl in '68-'70. The more I look at it and the more I get frustrated the balls and changes in bowling today, I sometimes get thoughts about somehow redriling it to fit me and trying to use it the way he showed me. A lot is sentimental (he died in '71 and I think about him often and he's with me every time I bowl) but if it is inexpensive I may give it a go. Problem is that it is 16 ib. and i'm trying to convert to 14 lb. (i'm 64). Thanks for the video! None of the guys in his league had a hook. The only hook we saw then was Carmen Salvino on tv!

Mikey, this video is brilliant! Rubber and wood. Would love to see you throw a Manhattan Rubber (no difference in the tornado lol) The old polyester balls that AMF made. I think they were carmel colored. Love the shoes!!

Old Wood here. Oil once weekly for the league. I bowl weekends and it is Scorched Insanity! Hook from release direct to 7 pin. Trying to figure it out. Old rubber may be a start?

Yes! Old wood lanes here! Oil Tuesday league then nothing until next Tuesday. I bowl weekends and it is insane! Most lanes hook right after release with a direct path to the 7 pin. Help!

Would sanding get my rubber Tornado to hook? Lanes are real wood and ext. dry but no hook. super straight. i'm using it for spare shots now. Low-rev. 12-15 mph. one hand. up 10. Thanks! Always great videos and knowledge!

Probably not much. Rubber is straighter than plastic, so would be like sanding plastic but straighter. I was in very dry OLD wood lanes for this video, more similar to the conditions when rubber was used (rubber was used on shellac and lacquer).

Did you do anything special to get the Tornado to hook? I'm getting my dad's out for Father's Day to see how it does on real wood. The thumb is a little off but not terribly so. He never hooked in '69.

That center has incredibly dry wood lanes. There is more friction there than any synthetic center for sure.

First, I appreciate Bowling Science! One of the houses I bowl has old real wood lanes. oiled only for Tuesday leagues. I usually bowl on weekend afternoons after other leagues and full lanes with 7p-1a glow bowling Fri-Sat. The heads are scorched and backends unpredictable. I want to get The Spy or Counter Atrack Pearl for these lanes-conditions but also want to try my late father's Tornado! Also, problem is that I don't trust the area pso's so buying balls with no drilling does me no good. Thanks for Bowling Science!

Wanted to use the Tornado for Father's Day! Unable to get to the Wood lanes this weekend (Summer hours) so took the Tornado to the synth lanes (oiled daily). Didn't expect any hook and didn't get any. I reverted to the straight ball from the first dot the way dad taught me in '68. Amazing pin hitting power, even at 14 mph. Great carry. Also, I may have found my corner pin spare ball! Man, does it love to go hard and straight! Bowling Science! No drilling equipment or skills but man, am I learning a lot! Between B.S. and Mo Monday's i'm learning things that the local pso's have no concept of what i'm talking about!

This pair was super comfortable. They have a heavier rubber outsole that provides a lot of support while being flexible. I bought a second pair to make a transformation video out of. That is coming in the next week.
