Bowmar Grip Tape - Is It Worth The Money?

I’ve had a problem with my grip where it would slip into a position that I couldn’t hold for a dime, and considered getting some of this grip tape. At the time I had heard mixed reviews, and decided not to “risk” it. Now I just use adhesive sandpaper and superglue around the top of the grip and down the back of it. It hold up really well, and the grip is incredible (obviously), but switching sandpaper can be annoying sometimes. I’m glad to see a good honest review that’s almost experiment-like, with the different tests. As for the video and editing, how you edited the shots and the music to line up was extremely well done, and it’s a small detail that makes the video much better. It makes me irrationally happy to see.

I've been using Wilson tennis grip wraps on my PSE bows forever awesome high temperature low temperature in the rain cheap 3 dollars at Walmart lasts for years

I use a roll of ice hockey grip tape. The one I use doesnt leave my bow sticky. A roll is enough for 6-8 bows Its 1/3 the cost of the bowmar stuff It comes in loads of colours.

Thank you Angus for your honest opinion. If it's wicking from your hand then the question is, does the wrap absorb your moisture to a saturation stage? Does it become more tacky or slippery than. As well, if used for hunting and tacky, what's going to stick to it????? Thanks Angus

I've been trying out gaffers tape. Like it so far. Actually gets more tacky the more humid and sweaty my hand gets.

That was good, I enjoyed watching. Your editing is getting better. Question: since you like friction on the grip what do you use? I’ve tried pistol grip, didn’t like the glue that tends to come off the edges.

I personally like the 3M friction tape as a cheap choice but I just started using the "Howie's Hockey Tape - Pro Grip" and I love that stuff. I haven't used it very long but it has taken over as my #1 choice. It's a little more expensive though.

It's identical to the grip tape you buy for a tennis racket that's why it's that length and it's also has been cut at an angle at the start of the grip so it rap's evenly all the way down the handle, the only difference is that you can go and get 3 to 4 rolls at your local sports store for the price he's selling 1 roll don't get me wrong the nose button is great but this style of grip has been around for years. I think he's using his success with the nose button to try and pull a bit con job.

Good review man, what friction tapes in particular? I’m looking at tape and am gonna buy a few different ones and see which I like better.

I really like the 3M friction tape and the "Howie's Hockey Tape - Pro Grip". The 3M friction tape is a little bit easier to apply and cheaper than the Howie's tape but The Howie's tape has a better grip to it. Howie's is also more expensive.

Ok. Let it be known I gave you a bunch of 💩 about your bow measuring video you did, but this was a great honest review. I have been looking at this tape for a while. I have been avoiding Bowmar products because of the people they are and what they stand for. Josh is a super douche and his wife is worse, but I might have to give in and try some of this crap. I guess I’ll try to wrap it so I can’t see their name at the bottom. Looks like I’ll be buying the “poacher” tape. 😩🤦🏼‍♂️ Thanks again for the video! 👍🏻✌🏻

Hey thanks for watching! I took off the friction tape that I had on the grip to put the Bowmar stuff on but that's all. I shoot the bow with the engage grip so I just put the grip tape over the engage grip like I would with the friction tape. 🙂

I have been using the "Howie's Hockey Tape - Pro Grip". It's a very coarse friction tape and It's my go-to, but it's a little pricey. If you want a decent tape that is cheaper, the regular 3M friction tape is pretty good too. Thanks for watching 🙂

Why is your D-loop so big?

My facial structure and arm length make it so that I have to have a longer D-Loop. Basically its so that I can avoid excessive face contact and have proper skeletal alignment at my anchor point. Thanks for watching 😁

You think? I've tried both and I like the Howie's tape way better. It has a better grip to it and it seems to have a longer life span before having to replace it. Maybe that's just me though.

@@AngusMoss_Archery like the channel! I’m just looking for something to take the slippery grip out. I keep seeing Bomar’s grip tape, and everyone loves it. I just had the gearaid coban for my shotguns, and I tried it on the bow. Works amazing with gloves for us snow people. Take care

@@darnellwatkins4031 oh I gotcha, well what ever works best for you is what matters 🙂 As far as the Bowmar grip tape goes; I was pretty impressed with it to be honest. I just can't shoot any "tacky" style tape because my hands always sweat and then my grip wants to change on the bow.. but if I did like tacky tape I would use Bowmar's because it is the best that I've used so far. Well NO! Tennis racquet grip wrap is cheap and has worked on my bows for many years. Why pay a ridiculous price? Just so you can show that you have it? I'm not about impressing anyone at the range.

I agree with you 100% on the whole show and tell thing though! I don't know why so many people put stock into what looks cool or what is in style. From a functionality standpoint; I will say that I actually do like the Bowmar tape though. Is it overpriced? Yes. But it is really good tape if you like tacky tape.
