Like the pre shot info about distance and angle. Puts the shot into perspective for viewers. Keep that in your videos for sure.

Yes we did!! I had a hard time finding the bobcat target at first it blended in so well! That’s what makes TAC fun. I agree I think Josh won the shoot off that time! -Micah

GAS makes great bowstrings, but these were actually both America’s Best Bowstrings which are built with amazing quality as well. You can’t go wrong shooting either brand!

Y'all need to put together a cut chart for those steep angle shots. There are multiple websites that will help you. There is a 'glitch' in angle compensation software in rangefinders that make them not totally effective for archers. Cut charts allow you to adjust for it.

A cut chart would definitely have been helpful here! Thank you

Black Gold 5 pin with an adjustable housing. The pins are 20-60 and the bottom is used as a floater for further distances with the sliding housing.

It's interesting to see how challenging it seems to be to get an accurate yardage. I'm not impressed with the Vortex rangefinder if it's causing you to blow over targets.
@BowOnlyOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
With these steep angles, even with angle compensation, range finders aren’t always accurate! I’m not a big fan of my Vortex rangefinder but it’s what I’ve got at the moment so it’s what I’ll have to stick with for now! Every yard counts especially on long shots like these
@jons7e3 жыл бұрын
@@BowOnlyOutdoors I did a head to head test of 2 Vortex and 2 Leupold rangefinders and the Fulldraw 4 won hands down for archery. It was more accurate more often, and handled angle compensation better. I also like the Archers Advantage ballistics software that's included. I wish it was $100 cheaper though. But arrows aren't cheap, so the difference in price will pay for itself at some point lol

He shot over because targets are closer on down hill shots he shot for 76 yards !! Uphill they are farther
@jons7e3 жыл бұрын
@@bigdog3890 He's using a rangefinder with compensation for angles built into it. He's shooting over because the rangefinder can't handle the angles presented and/or it's not a very good rangefinder, as it's giving him the incorrect compensation yardages.
@bigdog38903 жыл бұрын
Down hill the target is closer so shoot less yardage !! Uphill you shoot longer yardages you had that backwards brother that’s why you shot over
@BowOnlyOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Actually, you cut yardage for both uphill and downhill. It’s just less for uphill. We don’t get to practice shooting extreme angles at far distances much so we definitely need more practice there!
@timbow503 жыл бұрын
Micah, I understand angles in rangefinders are based on cosine values. Dave Cousins explained they are only mathematical values and really do Not apply to arrow ballistics accurately. He was shooting in a field shoot in Europe ( the Pro Archery series on Vimeo) and said he created his tables based on his arrow ballistics from actually shooting hundreds of arrows at many different angles up and down. This was a field dot event with targets to 80 yards at very acute angles. Boring in a way but also amazing at how well these archers Jesse Broadwater, Tim Gillingham, shot various events a few years ago there. Look them up on Vimeo sometime. I'm jealous of you guys ability to shoot these crazy ass distances so well. You're running out of excuses for those hunts this coming fall. lol

That’s very interesting! I’ve heard the Leupold Full Draw 4 rangefinder has a new feature that includes customizable arrow ballistics for each individual setup, I bet that would help me out a lot on these shoots! There’s so much that goes into archery and bowhunting it fascinates me, hopefully I can continue to learn! Thanks for the reply Tim! -Micah

Either you need a new sight tape....or range finder😳
@BowOnlyOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
We’ve learned over the course of these shoots and shooting from angles especially at distance that even angle compensating rangefinders aren’t 100% exact for every set up. I’d like to try the Leupold full draw 4 that uses archers advantage software to adjust the cut based on your individual set up, with that said, the cut for my bow and set up, wouldn’t be exactly the same for others, as there are many factors that can effect the amount you need to cut for angled shots.
