It was a nice course Gary, really enjoyed parts of the back 9. I could have stayed beside the 12th green all afternoon.

I'm always jinxing it! I could always finish off a decent round of golf pre covid but not so much now after the lock downs. I'm just not the same golfer.

Hi Simon, another great upload, what a gem of a course. I know you are not 100 percent with your game, but still some encouraging signs. Keep it up.

It was a lovely course, loved the back 9. Not sure about finishing a round with a long par 4. I guess it sees a lot of action in matchplay and is tough enough to avoid going back down the 1st. Somebody will make a par and win for sure.

Apart from the pop up drives (which get worse as the summer progresses). It was a good course and I really enjoyed it, that always helps the score.

Spectacular back 9! What a hole to start the back 9! Love that par 5! Covered bridge is nice touch! I think this is the best back 9 ive seen you play Simon! You should haved made par on the 17th, just a lack of focus there. Very nice round and very cool course!

That covered bridge was so cool. Brought back some happy memories of America. I should have parred 17, it was sloppy. But I enjoyed the round and the course.

This is one those rounds when you look at the score and say how did I stay in the 70s. You weren't hitting it well and you didn't have any great recovery shots. You just plodded along. Well done Simon
@thehairygolfer3 жыл бұрын
Brian, it was a plod. I hit the bad shots straight enough and holed some putts. Missed a few but I think I came out on top of the putting stats. It could easily have been 3 worse over the whole round. I had a good range session before I played too which helped, I didn't go to the 1st tee cold. My swing is worse in my next course vid.

G’Day Simon Well played over all Simon and the course looks like a good test from tee to green When this bloody COVID crap settles down I would love to make the trip to the UK play some the courses you feature Anyhow in the meantime I will keep watching you play them 👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺

Hi Rob, I think my favourite place to play is Wales. Loads of courses 100 or more years old. Not too long either for an old fart. I think the crap is now endemic, it's part of a our daily lives and will remain so until the end of time. Just need governements to open up and stop destroying businesses and lives. They are doing more damage now than the virus.

I wish I could play this well on an off day. Great video Simon.

My savinggrace is the bad shots were straight and the putter helped me out. The greens were mostly flat so that really helped. Our ordinary golf courses don't have USPGA Tour greens so never too difficult.

Yeah over here people want greens rolling at a 12 or more.

That is my Callaway Simon but I will exchange it for your short game, loved the horse shoe putt loved your dance floor shoes too, last time I saw their like was in a Budapest bordello

I think that callaway is in my driving range bag. It may already have been hit never to be seen again. I've got a Dunlop here you can have....... I only just saw the horseshow putt as a fly bit my arm. I just saw it out of the corner of my eye. Those shoes are really popular! In Budapest bordellos....... I knew I had seen you somewhere before!

Well done yet again. +3 on the back 9 as predicted!!!! I'm glad that you enjoyed the course, and that you played pretty well. The back 9 there has some pretty holes, but some are brutal (15 in particular!), so it was hardly surprising to bogey there. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed the video! On another matter, I hear that a couple of the greens at Gloucester GC have been vandalised. It really is appalling that people don't have better things to do with their time than to wreck others leisure pursuits! Hopefully, the damage won't take too long to repair. I only mention it as I seem to remember that one of your lads has joined there and that you used to be a member there?
@thehairygolfer3 жыл бұрын
I loved the lip in on 12. A fly got me on the arm and I saw the putt drop out of the corner of my eye. That moment made my day! I saw a picture of the 8th at Gloucester, somebody had driven on it to do donuts. It will be a long time before it's repaired as it's now autumn and the grass isn't growing much. I have no words to describe who did it. It's just plain stupid. But they do suffer from break ins up there quite a bit and sometimes cars in broad daylight. I would always worry after a round when I'd put my clubs away and gone for a drink.
@nevillehubbard73473 жыл бұрын
@@thehairygolfer yes, that is always a concern at any club round here too. Not like North Devon where you could leave your clubs out and no-one would touch them, even if they were out overnight (in my defence, I was a little tipsy - alright, drunk! - that night, but they were still by the entrance to the loos, where I'd left them, the following day!). I agree, it's mindless vandalism but, hopefully, there will be a little growth over the next month or so before the grass becomes dormant over the winter. The 270° on 12 was great. I really thought that you'd missed it but it toppled back in. 10, 11 & particularly 12 are all pretty photogenic (mind you, so is 15, but if I ever play that hole again it will be too soon!!!) and, much as I can't get up in 2, 18 is a quality hole to finish on! All in all, +6 is a great score on a course you'd never seen before and, hey, it beats going shopping with the Mrs!!!!!
@thehairygolfer3 жыл бұрын
@@nevillehubbard7347 A friend of mine was playing somewhere near Torquay. After the round he put his hand in the bag for his wallet and car keys. Gone. Somebody had helped themselves when he was on the practice green! Bastards!It had to be a member! I'd like to play 15 again when the rough mower has been fixed but I would probably still make a bogie, it's a hard hole. If I hadn't of popped up the drive on 18 I might of had a chance to reach. But that's life. It does beat shopping. Stood outside seaside shops while the wife looks at crap.

Because Lilley Brook is so tight when I play away I find courses wide open, more confidence, I relax and play better. That hole was narrow but I was full of confidence over the drive. I knew I was going to hit fairway.

Lovely back 9. Good score on a new course. Very respectable. Swing looking decent. Q- Did you feel fresh on 18th given you used the cart?
@thehairygolfer3 жыл бұрын
Just over my handicap so was very happy. There were enough holes that were easy enough to balance the harder holes. Very pretty back 9 too. I don't like carts, I lose track of where I am from driving the distance rather than walking it. It took me 8 minutes (oops) to find my ball on 15. I think because I had driven to the wrong place to start looking. If I had been walking I wouldn't have taken my eye off the spot for 1 second. Carts are very useful but I don't really like them that much. But I had no choice, no room in the car for a powakaddy on holiday and I'll be damned if I'll carry!
