Why was this boss battle harder than almost any other in the entire game? As King of Guys Who Talk To Posters, _he was prepared,_ while Mario had just fought an already tough boss, having little reserves left. The first time I beat this boss, I only won because of a Jelly Ultra in the bag.

It’s actually pretty genius when you think about it. Most bosses in TTYD are really good because of how they were crafted to act like mini puzzles. Take Magnus Von Grapple’s rocket arms, Cortez’s 3 phases or Grodus’s shield for example. But the fight against Bowser is actually pretty standard in comparison. It’s a pretty boring boss fight on its own. But because Mario had just fought Grodus, the fight becomes a lot more interesting because your resources have been partly exhausted, which keeps the fight interesting despite its simplicity. Yet another reason why Thousand Year Door is an excellent game.

To take another game from the series, I liked Color Splash a lot, but the "puzzles" in question were kind of standard, save for four boss fights: Ludwig, Roy, Kamek, and Black Paint Bowser. Ludwig had the tail section at the start, although there was the required balloon bit later, which made it slightly lose it's charm. The Roy battle was interesting in its gimmick of paint and card requirements, although it relied on the washer again at the end. Kamek didn't require any cards, which was nice, and he also used every single spell on hand, which made the battle doubly interesting, if tedious. Black Paint Bowser has you defending against him in a sort of Partners in Time Final Boss-esque battle, if I recall correctly, and that made it stand out the most to me, in terms of Paper Mario final bosses I've fought. Note that I haven't fought the final boss of either the original, or TOK, though. I'm merely using this as an opportunity to say that Paper Mario, as a whole, does their bosses very well, in terms of puzzles.

The first and only time I fought that boss, I almost threw my controller at the wall when I saw it was another full fight without healing as I had barely managed to beat Grodus. Then, on my first turn, I managed to get a shine on the roulette bingo, healing me fully. I thought this was scripted... until I saw this comment section. That part of the game must really suck if you're not as lucky as I was...

I have no problem with it myself, and lucking out and being full health for Bowser is fun, but I know some kids got gaught by it. My 6 year old nephew is trying the games, and I already know it's going to blow his mind when Bowser shows up out of nowhere when he's struggling with the basic game. I can't wait for it. XD

This has got to be my favorite bowser theme in the entire series. It's intense, heart pounding, and feels like you are fighting against Bowser at his scariest. This remix is just amazing.
