You forgot to mention that Bowser is probably named for the lead singer of Sha-Na-Na. There's an Italian-American theme running through the naming conventions of the US localisation of Super Mario Bros: "Goomba", for example, is Italian for "buddy" or "mate". As Jon "Bowzer" Bauman was popularly thought to be Italian-American and at the height of his popularity in the late 70's / early 80's, it's a good bet that he was on the minds of the localisation translators.

Bowser can grant magic to his minions as well as empower his magikoopas (ref Bowser's Inside Story). He is also capable of teleportation among other broken things (ref Mario Galaxy). The reason why Peach and Mario are the only ones that oppose him in most games are because they are immune to his personal magic (ref Super Mario Bros instruction manual). Most instances where he does manage to affect Mario and Peach with magic is through the help of other artifacts (ref Paper Mario). Otherwise, dude just uses brawn and machinery/magitech to do the job (ref various, including Mario Party). Bowser has never ceased being a sorcerer, and his feats are always on a high tier.

As Italian, I felt a little bit weirded when I heard that in the Italian version of the cartoon Bowser is called Re Attila. I remember that I watched some episodes of that serie and I noticed this fact, but I thought in every version of every language it had different names. That's strange because in Italy everybody know Bowser as Bowser, so why the hell did they give him another name only in the cartoon?

Or there's nothing official like that, but Bowser acts as an impromptu father figure towards them due to how close they are. Granted, it's possible that those guys aren't even kids, at least anymore. They're actually larger than a normal Koopa. Sure, they look much more like Bowser than a normal Koopa, but it's entirely possible Bowser is just much larger than typical for the type of Koopa he is.

Nintendo is very protective of their intellectual property and have very specific rules about how their characters are portrayed so as to keep their appearance, personalities, and behavior consistent, for the sake of not diluting the value of their brand and their properties. They are moreso protective of it now than in the past obviously, and for obvious reasons (such as the Mario Bros. movie) they don't want their properties to be associated with poor quality. It's much like how Disney is very protective of Mickey Mouse's image and are very careful in who they allow to animate him.

Bowser is the character with the highest amounts of possesions/mind control incidents in the Nintendo Library, atleast with villains. 4:19 R.I.P Lemmy Kilmister he's my favorite musician who inspired me and Metallica too. Speaking of Metallica they made a song about him on there New album "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct" which is called "Murder One" which is named after Lemmy's amplifier but a tribute to him. I miss this guy I still listen to his band Motörhead to this day. I've been a Motörhead fan for a longtime and I never seen him in concert but I still listen to their music. Lemmy also was a roadie for Jimi Hendrix longtime ago before he join a band so yeah. I play and sing like Lemmy whenever I play there songs on guitar or bass. I'll see you in heaven soon. Rest in peace brother.
