I honestly think a big reason for this ship (besides monster fucker vibes and just how cute the contrast is) is the wish fulfillment for these two characters. Bowser just wants a spouse to keep him company, somebody he can be venerable with. Unfortunately he’s totally ruined that with Peach by being pushy. He just likes the idea of married life with somebody much more kind and sweet than him. Luigi always feels like he’s in his brother’s heroic shadow, watching him get the girl just about every day of the week.
