my only criticism for a lot of these works is that people are forgetting that luigi canonically enjoys wearing dresses and therefore would probably actually have very little problem with that aspect of the whole "pretending to be peach" shindig - he's worn peach's dress at least twice in canon (mario & luigi superstar saga, and the super mario adventures comics), a wedding dress in an off-screen story (told in paper mario 2), and the super crown that turns toadette into peachette has a note that no other characters can use it to transform into princesses, which ends with "sorry, luigi". so rest assured, putting luigi in a pretty little dress in your bowuigi fanworks is entirely in-character! also: if you're specifically a sucker for luigi pretending to be peach, that's literally what happens in superstar saga. spoilers: they convince bowser that peach is a decoy and that luigi (dressed as peach, with his hands carefully held over his mouth, doing a startlingly good peach impression) is the real peach, and bowser drops her to take him instead. it doesn't quite end in romance as we'd all like it to, but it is a thing that actually genuinely happened, so!

Y’know, now that I think about it, the three most popular Luigi ships that I can think of are all ships with royalty, that being Luigi x Daisy, Luigi x Bowser, and, what I personally ship, Luigi x Peasley (cause I mean like, have you seen how much gay energy those two have in Superstar Saga? I dunno who managed to sneak in their ship without Nintendo noticing, but they are my personal hero for the canonical bisexual Luigi content). We have an anxious, lovable dork paired up with a girlboss, a misunderstood monster, and a Prince Charming type, but it still all comes back to the blue collar worker x royalty ship. I wonder what if there’s any reason why that dynamic is so popular with Luigi ships (well, other than the fact that Luigi deserves to be treated like the king he is).

Imagine if the Bowser Luigi ship bait was more valid in the context of the movie with Luigi being stuck in his cage by Bowser instead of sent to a different room with him observing Bowser's behaviors and genuine obsessions towards Peach finding the piano song he did for her sweet and commenting on how much this must mean to him, having them both with more to do and duo moments where at the end he could say WAIT GUYS all he needs is love or something like that while still getting punished in the end but maybe a heart warming goodbye from Bowser towards the green plumber Also got beauty and the beast vibes when Luigi went inside the ominous castle but the ship brain rot probably infected me Also let's be honest Bowser just wants love he wouldn't care about sex with a kind soul like Luigi to fill up Peach's shoes
