Great job Leo. I doubt I could follow that narrow template as well as you using both hands. Of course I only have a big De Walt router at the moment which is a bit cumbersome. You will probably need longer dumbbells for your big table tops but I think the underneath bar you used is just as good and probably better as it leaves that lovely top unencumbered by the tie bar.

The reason I like your channel is the inventive way you come up with solutions to what might seem an easy task for 2 handed people, but a lot of your stuff still benefits us duel handed people, Props to you Leo. that jig could also be made in the more 'traditional' style 'bowtie' but with rounded edges

Well done Leo! One handed or not, positively pushing not just the hobby but the trade itself forward for all. I'm sure there's 10's of thousands that have worked with wood all their lives and never took a new concept to production. Keep it up 👍🏼🍻

Another thing you may wish to try ... once you've done your initial inlay, use one of the smaller inlay templates and cut into the bigger inlay, then use a contrasting piece of wood for the smaller inlay 👍 You can either make sure the second inlay is centred or offset/rotate slightly to give an interesting look 😀

Thanks Karen for the feedback. This is my 1/4 inch palm router in its plunge base. The difficulty with just having it in the ‘palm’ style base is not being able to plunge it and the plunge part has to be accurate otherwise the bowtie part won’t fit snug. I know this probably doesn’t make sense in words but kind of does in my head 😂😂😂

@@Hand-i-Craft lots of potential for many woodworkers. This would be a great way to get into some more joinery for so many folks new to woodworking. I think I might have to get one from Martin in the new year.

Hi Leo, great to see your progression taking on projects I could only dream of ( need a woodworking shed first). The acrylic/wood office plinth looks gorgeous. Well done. I was going to ask a question but frankly you have already answered it regarding chisel work. Left (dominant) arm amputee, posted on your post surgery vlog, dabbling on wood-worrying & have been stumped on how to use my chisels safely. Can gouge & pare off soft woods but recently I have a project involving oak & I literally threw my chisels out the window. Only tool that comes close is a pointed rasp attachment to my knock-off dremel although this can burn the wood.....any suggestions?
@Hand-i-Craft
@Hand-i-Craft Жыл бұрын
I hear your frustrations pal in regards to chiseling etc. Your mind can see what you want to happen but your body isn’t capable. My advice if you’re trying a Dremel style tool to turn the power right down and run it on a test piece. I’ve done that in the past and it certainly has helped to reduce burn on the wood 👍👍

Can't chisel with only one hand because you can't hammer, excuses excuses, use your head 🤣 Like most things in the world someone else has already done this, but not everyone knows about it, you've just shown a lot of people how to do it who may not have already known ... it's how we all learn ... excellent 👍 It's not just this shape you can use either, you can do the more traditional 'bowtie' look albeit with rounded corners or create your own 😁
