That’s a great question, thanks for watching. I’m afraid very little in a home hair colour. I would suggest a stand alone product like K18 - the peptide is patented so the clinical date backs it up properly. The same with Olaplex…although I choose K18 over that.
@keanux2 ай бұрын
The same "misleading" claims that k18 or olaplex make..The problem with these "patented" products is that it is so difficult to find truthful, reliable,independent research about them. Just because the company claims that the product can do this or that, you dont have to believe it since the company is just interested in its own economic interests. Actually, there's an interesting study that found that the keratine the most involved in hair damaged is K31...Yes, hair is made up of different types of keratines... Now, don't get me wrong, I do not mean k18 is a bad product, however, taking into account the results you may achieve, it is ridiculously overpriced. There's countless products which can have same or even better results for a much smaller price...Ain't marketing grand?!? ( And also terribly, disgustingly misleading, I should add...)
@keanux2 ай бұрын
@@theworldofcraigThanks a lot for deleting opinions which, at the very least, contradict your aggressive k18 marketing techniques. People must be really gullible to believe what someone who's being paid by the same company that manufactures the product to promote it says. "molecular science" they have the audicity to say, as if absolutely everything were not made up of molecules...Pseudo-science=marketing techniques=deception

I don’t remember saying anything in a video about Nutrise/ammonia…? I have mentioned that even ammonia free hair colour has potentially damaging chemicals…ammonia isn’t bad at all…neither is peroxide to a point - and again, I’ve never said a colour for home use had high peroxide volumes in it..? I wouldn’t advise mixing home colour with anything other than is in the box - perhaps look for a specific toner…doing that could make the results very unpredictable. Thanks for watching. 👨🏼🙏🏻✨

Used highlights about 20 yrs but since transitioning to hair color my hair initially turns out brilliant but in 4 washes my hair has mucho brass. I am fearful to use ash as i heard of the green hair effect. So i put up with the brass and trim more often. No home hair dye is perfect. It is a great formula but the natural staring point always plays a huge part in the result. hello Craig! thank you so very much for covering more drugstore and do it yourself hair products ❤ was curious to get your insight. i bleached my roots at home yesterday, as i do every 6-8 weeks or so, before putting pink direct dye in. i know bleach is an aggressive chemical process and scalp pain and irritation is normal, but it hurt insanely yesterday and i was wondering if there are any ways to reduce that 😅 i used some italian bleach powder and 20 vol clear cream developer. still bleached well, but i had to wash it out before the usual time i leave bleach in. should i perhaps use a lower developer vol next time? thank you!! my mom also loves loreal and revlon permanent box dyes. the colour on the box is usually misleading, but box dye can still come out looking lovely.

Last year I got my black hair ( salon colored grey coverage ) to a chocolate brown but somehow the bleaching was bad so first session it had still black parts , second session it went back to my old color because idk why because I left crying they offered me to fix it and the color I wanted was brown and I turned to a redhead . I redone it to cooper . Since January I was trying to get rid of the red but salons somehow managed to do it reddish again . I started coloring on my one and I mostly got rid of the red .I am using 6.11 ,7.11 L’Oréal excellence . Any suggestion what else I can use . I want to go chocolate brown but when I apply that color on my hair it just turns red . Sorry for the long comment 🙏🏻

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. That’s a tricky one to answer remotely I’m afraid - every time you lift the hair it exposes warmth, the formula you’re using is good for the result you want but if your natural hair is warm you will almost always get a warm result.

I usually color my own hair, I have had somewhat bad luck at the salon, plus I have redo my roots often. My hair is naturally a dark blonde, and it tends to pull warm. I use an ash color, but it still pulls warm. I haven't tried a double ash...because I have some concerns about it pulling green. Is this something I need to actually be concerned with? I also wouldn't want it to be so ashy that it looks flat either, just a bit less warmth would be nice because I am cool toned, and I don't think added warmth matches my skin tone.

Love your tips. Craig is it possible to bring a level 5 to a level 7-8 without having to bleach it first? I tried that in the past and it goes always orange. I used the L’Oréal 6U and it became red/orange with great grey coverage. I was not happy, too warm, I want a cool shade, maybe beige but definitely cool. A few months later I tried 7.11 anti-brass but it became orange, less orange than de 6U. My hair becomes much darker and warmer than what is on the box. Long intro but now my question, I want a medium ash blond, the colour on the box of the L’Oréal 7.11. Is it possible to do it without having to pre-bleach? Should I use another brand. Does a high lift work? Which one? Thanks for your time and expertise.

Thank you, glad you’re enjoying my content and it’s helpful. So I’m afraid it’s tricky - you want to be a cool ash blonde and that’s not really possible with tint…it’s a matter of accepting what result you can get with it or go down the route of bleaching. Perhaps partial highlights after timing would suffice…? The coolest result you’re going to get is from the Loreal “anti brass” line. Thanks for watching. 👨🏼🙌🏻✨

I found no matter what I did my hair pulled alot of orange. I've used 40vol developers, and even paid out to a salon to bleach highlights and it still came out with alot of brassiness and orange. Used blue and violet based toners. ash color also tend to go darker so maybe that's why yours came out darker than you wanted. I figured I would have to really bleach my hair to a 9-10 and then dye it back to where it would be too much damage and upkeep. since my hair really wants to be on the orange/gold side I just go with it now and go with gold/copper/red dyes.

I used to use these on a lady with thick below shoulder length hair, a copper colour, I only did the roots (as the ends were coloured) but found 1 box was not enough even for the roots. I then found it hard to match up. As her roots got grayer, it never seemed to cover and had a root glow and if I combed it through to even out, the mid length and ends just got darker. I usually use Koleston but find on golden blondes when Im doing the roots (grey/white natural roots) Im always having to colour touch mid lengths/ends to stop the obvious line of root colour and the old growth (overlap, if you know what I mean). And thanks to you for watching and your kind words. 1 box isn’t ever going it be enough on thicker hair for sure - I do go through that in another video in that playlist. I realize I can’t get back to the gray in the crown. Any general advice you can give me on which way to go?
@theworldofcraig4 ай бұрын
Hi Maggie. So it’s a tricky one to give advice on as there is SO much too it now your hair is tinted. I would suggest perhaps using a “neutral” level 7 Natural Instincts Demi permanent or a Casting to tone it and blend in the root, breaking the cycle of using permanent colour. Using anything permanent could end up making your hair warmer in the long run - warmth is always the first thing to come through with permanent colour. Just be aware that this won’t make the result flat and “cool” - you’d need to remove all the rose gold warmth first for that.

What should i put on bleached hair, i have white blonde but even toners dont reallt do anything to my roots
@theworldofcraig5 ай бұрын
Sorry, not sure what you’re asking..? You want to lift the roots? If it’s toning I have an entire playlist on it here on my channel… Thanks for watching.
@shannonjade59475 ай бұрын
@theworldofcraig Sorry. I recently bleached my hair, it goes very light really easy but I find when I go to then dye or tone my hair, my roots don't really take and I end up with very white roots while the rest of my hair has taken
@theworldofcraig5 ай бұрын
I would suggest perhaps using a slightly deeper/darker formula on the root in that case - perhaps test it on the underneath first.

thank you. Is there a non toxic hair color removal if color came out too dark from permanent hair color, and does it work on Demi permanent color as well.

Me again I have brown hair but half grey, and use brown hair dye. What type of blond dye would lighten it to a-golden brown, thank you .

@shirylford182 Hair colour won’t lift hair colour, you would need to use bleach or colour remover - my most recent video tells you how.

What about the ingredients in L’Oréal preference ( the box dye you showed) I have light blonde hair. I used the preference blonding once and can tell anyone that they don’t lift 3 levels. But comparing the ingredients, which one do you think is the best? I heard that the olia should be the best but what do you think
@theworldofcraig4 ай бұрын
There really isn’t much in it - Olia uses an oil based system, Preference is more of a traditional colour. I haven’t used either so I don’t have an opinion. They do lift but there are SO many factors and every single head of hair is different.
@charlotteantonia39064 ай бұрын
@@theworldofcraigthank you! Do you think that the oil based is better than the normal ammonia Formular? I also want to use the preference 11.11 because I hope that it will be a bit more cool toned.. I previously used olia 110 ( cool ashblond) but it wasn’t super cool.. even though I think it is a shade 11.1 but maybe that was because I have super warm toned hair
@theworldofcraig4 ай бұрын
@@charlotteantonia3906It’s personal preference…I can’t give you an answer to that. High lift colour is never going to give a cool result, it will always expose warmth in the hair.

Hey Craig , you should review L'Oreal Paris ultra platinum L'Oreal claims it lifts 9 levels is it true or just words , thanks Craig you rock much respect to you 👍🙂

Hi Dennis. It most likely does have the “power” to lift - but it would depend on so many factors. Perhaps my next home colour videos will be blondes…?! Thanks for watching. 👨🏼📦🙌🏻

Hi Craig - just wondering Can you beef up the power of a box dye a bit by adding a stronger developer? I’ve heard most box dyes come with 10% hydrogen peroxide that you add into the dye mix. What would happen if you upped this to an equal amount of 20 or even 30% vol hydrogen peroxide? Would it give more lift? Thank you! Love the videos! ❤

Hi Robbie, thanks for watching and I’m thrilled you’re enjoying my content! That might be one of those hair colour myths - the demi’s would have something very similar to what we use in salon…the grey coverage would be 20 volume…and the high-lift 30/40 volume. They really aren’t very different from pro products - check out my video where I test Natural Instincts, it sums it all up. I would never suggest mixing them with anything other than what’s in the box - it would make results very unpredictable and cause at worst cause damage to the hair or a nasty reaction.

Is box dye more likely to cause hair loss , then professional hair dye ?
@theworldofcraig3 ай бұрын
No, they are effectively the same thing. There is a lot of misinformation out there, the big brands that make both pro and consumer offerings don’t make two different formulas - they change things like fragrance, which people can react to but it isn’t “stronger” or more likely to damage your hair if used correctly.

I've used a colour remover on my hair. I was really dark chocolate now I'd say im a dark red/orange and yellow/orangein parts. I'm a natural mousy blonde/brown. But want to go just a flat brown without brassy hair. I could cry. Can someone help me? Box dye? Toner? Hair salon? What do I do?
@theworldofcraig4 ай бұрын
You could get to a “flat brown” if it the canvas (that’s what we call the hair ready for recolouring) was an even yellow tone, with minimal orange. As there’s (from what you say, very hard to make a call remotely) red/orange those parts will have to be lifted more….otherwise toning to make those “flat” would mean you’d have to go really dark. There are many toning videos here on my channel in a playlist.
