They did make the spiderverse stuff , first amazing Spider-Man , Spiderman 2 (top 5 comic book movie ever) right now they are just doing what they can to hold the rights hostage. If they had everything else I have to assume they would’ve been fine and had a good universe. I think they went about this wrong and they should have a 2nd spiderman (elseworlds) similar to how the new batman and Matt reeves batman will be

I can’t blame him for Quicksilver. Dude barely got to play him. As for Kraven, I’m sure JC Chandor was the reason why he signed on. Dude’s made some great movies, so I can understand why he would want to work on this.

I am seriously thinking whomever is running Columbia Picture is working behind the scene to run either the studio and/or the expanded Spiderman franchise to the ground, so Sony is forced to selling the rights or the entire studio to Disney. If you look at the supposed talents behind the Venom, Kraven, Morbius and Madam Web, it doesn't make any sense why they were picked. The director of Venom Last Dance had never directed a movie in her life until Venom 3.

I think what Sony will do now is scrap their universe and make sure Venom is in one of the next big MCU projects since he’s shown as a standalone character he can sell.

A lot of factors working against it? How about it's a bad movie?! Just my opinion of course, but I couldn't even stay into it for the full 8 minutes they released. That might have been their biggest mistake. Now people KNOW they don't want to go see it as opposed to MAYBE they might go to see what it's all about. It might not be a coincidence that the box office projections tanked even farther after the 8 minute release. But hey, there's some die hards that just want to believe in the power of muscular people in silly costumes and things like writing, directing and acting are just holding them back.

I just went and saw the movie and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I know that it's not saying much but it's possibly my favourite of the Sony Marvel films. It's a shame because this is the direction I think they should have gone with this universe.

Sony should just make Spider-man movies in the MCU (for live action). They'll make plenty of money with stories that people are likely more interested to see. The Home trilogy is quite solid, and the next one has similar potential. Develop new bad guys for Spidey, and maybe they'll be interesting enough to have their own movie.
