If you put the holes of the one-hole straps above the pipe, gravity becomes your friend. With the straps below, pulling down on the pipe can bend the strap at the hinge and cause the pipe to come away from the wall.

Nice video Bill. Quick question Did you have to account for the gain of the bender on the 90 bend and cut the conduit down for that? But also wouldn't you also need to also figure for the shrink from the four point saddle which would be a 1-1/2 inches if I'm correct since you're doing two 30 degree offsets? (1/4 inch shrink per inch of rise on a 3 inch obstruction). I'm just asking because it seems like that scenario you demonstrated on fit perfectly to a 10 foot stick after all the bends and gain from the 90 and the shrinkage from the offsets.
@GGGenom3 жыл бұрын
The star point on the bender marks the back of a 90 degree bend so you don't have to work out the take-up. If he were bending the stub in the other direction, he would have to deduct the five inches or so from the measurement. And by measuring and marking the bend after bending the saddle, the shrink is already in the pipe and accounted for in the measurement.
@SparkyChannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ethan! I made my measurement for 76" after I made the 4 pt saddle so the shrinkage was already figured in. Notice at 8:56 I'm measuring with the 4 pt saddle already made. Same with measuring for the 90 stub. The 90 was already made so it's gain was already figured in. I cut a little ( I think it was 17") off of the conduit before I started to make it easier to work with so don't go by my starting with a 10' stick. Good observations!

I like the IDEAL the best but I like the new angle setter on the Klein especially for tasks like a 4 pt saddle bend. I can use either one. They are both excellent.

hey I'm new to your channel and i was wondering if you or any other electrical brother out there could share. what trick, method or whatever they use to know which way a box offset would go on a pipe that's got bends already in it.....example, let's say we got a pipe running up the wall [conduit] and its got a kick and a 90. what's the best way to insure my box offset is in the right direction.....i hope i explained that well.....

Great video as always Mr. Bill. I'm confused though, you measured the needed distance for your parallel stub on center (4:20)... but in my understanding the star mark on the bender (9:00) will put that 76" measurement at the back of the bend (outside surface of the vertical leg of the pipe, not center). Why wouldn't the bend end up short by 1/2 the diameter of the pipe doing it this way?
@alexvalenti9213 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I don't understand for the same reason

Question about your bandsaw reamer. I have bought one, but it’s not meant to fit on the m12 bandsaws. How’d you secure your reamer to the m12 bandsaw?
@SparkyChannel3 жыл бұрын
It fits on both the new M18 and the M12 bandsaws. It just tightens on one of the wheels. The problem is that it can work loose and fall off of the band saw while it's in use.
