As an ex Teacher, Trainer and Lecturer and an Instructor of Tae Kwon Do when a young man in the RAF, who now 70 and trying to keep my self fit, and found that that 45 minutes of intensive hitting a punch bag I set up in my spare bedroom , I can burn about 400Kcals - which means I have been watching a lot of KZbin boxing videos, with out any doubt in terms of teaching footwork , which I am finding hard to learn this is the best by far , i have seen on here.

Nice of you to get back. Have now seen your 'ring webby ones', very interested in that. I wonder how many other people have done what I have, in using my smallest bedroom (kids now left) and have a punch bag hanging in the very centre of the room, as I have, because your 'ring' KZbins I have found really useful. Got a long way to go, but thanks to you and your assistant, I can see what you are getting at and what I need to aim for. Another bit of praise, wise move to team teach, using your young assistant to show the moves while you do the voice-over, thus no distraction of your students by instinct watching your lip movement at the same time your boxing body moves. I suspect you have a pedagogy background.

This is better than most agility ladder drills for boxing BUT I still have a problem. The problem is that you throw your combo AFTER you move rather than AS YOU MOVE (as you should). For a right-handed fighter, when the left foot lands your left fist lands and just after your right foot lands, your right hand lands. It is your body motion and torsion and the connection to the floor that creates power in your punches. Punching flatfooted AFTER you stop moving eliminates all power from your punches.

Just curious, some items it seems like there’s an entire empty box between feet and sometimes it’s lead foot in the box and the rear foot is in line with the box directly behind it. Is it interchange based on what feels natural?
@GlennHolmesLA Жыл бұрын
hard to grasp your point here, but mostly these drills are to keep feet 1 square apart in the boxing stance, hope that helps

Rear foot needs to come back first when stepping back with the jab so jab and front foot land at same time not the rear foot not hating just helping 🙂
@GlennHolmesLA2 жыл бұрын
that doesnt make sense, if moving rear foot first with the jab, how would the front foot land at the same time as the jab?
@mightConsiderThis11 ай бұрын
@@GlennHolmesLAit makes sense if the jab slightly trails the back foot and makes impact when the front foot lands, otherwise it’s just an arm punch. You wouldn’t throw a right hand while stepping forward with the left foot. The right hand lands when the right foot comes forward behind the left. Similar with the jab when moving back or to the right. I have seen it taught both ways though.
