Tennis ball under the chin works too. Can also use a ball about the size of a volleyball to teach muscle memory for keeping the lead arm up when throwing the rear arm. Have them hold the ball in the inside of bicep and forearm.

my dad played "the apple game" with me when he was teaching me to box. He would stick an apple under my chin and one under his and the game was whoever dropped the apple first lost. So it was a really fun game and it helped me learn.

thank you so much coach my neck used to kill me when i was training and i didn't know why but your explanation about the 45 degree angle solved the problem.

Thank you for your kind words sir. Glad we could help. I think you'll also find, you take fewer shots to the face, you'll get more glancing blows (rudimentary, incidental slips), and you'll also find your punching power increases.

I love this sunglasses idea! I wonder if the tennis ball method really allows proper shoulder rotation. Definitely something I need to work on myself!

Really nice to see you back with news video, your stuff is always great, quick question, would you apply this same principal to Muay Thai, thanks and continue your good work.

The stance can be used judiciously at boxing range, but I would mix it up with a standard, more upright Thai Stance, and would usually suggest incorporating angles while in the stance to reduce the potential for being kneed. At kick range there is no reason for it. However, the principal of keeping the chin down at any range and in any stance still applies.

We used to use the ball under the chin trick but we saw a lot of students opening their mouths to help keep the ball in place which was creating a whole new training scar to have to undo later. We prefer this method now.
