One of the main things that many seem to be ignoring is the footwork of Dubois. There's an excellent breakdown of it, double half steps to get into range with the jab, along with a slight move to Dubois own left, to keep him off direct line of a return. But also when not punching Dubois was gliding back out of range, which kept Joshua being able to land his own jab consistently, keeping Dubois out of that mid range as he was doing against Hrgovic. That footwork was a key thing and also meant when Joshua was leaning back with his hands down, Dubois was actually closer than Joshua thought.

The only shock here is that Joshua is even worse than first thought

It looked like the Saudi chap in the front row ordered a finish with a cut throat action at the beginning of the fifth round. Who was he signaling to and why did he make this motion? Was the fight not going how wanted it too, is that why AJ threw everything he had at DDD, trying to get the KO as the Sheik wanted? Daniel is improving with every fight now and an improving heavy weight is a dangerous opponent for any fighter. Well done DDD and God bless you and your family.

Same mistake against Ruiz...staying in the pocket way too long (NO situational awareness which is shocking at this level). After an exchange of a few punchs it should've been obvious to AJ that he needed to step back and reset his offense (Dubois, although clearly hurt was still resisting and landing shots). The punch selection that resulted in the KO was horrible, why attempt an uppercut from the outside (while not guarding against a counter right with your left at YOUR WAIST)? AJ should have worked toward Dubious with an outside double jab to nuetralize the right and ONLY then (if there was no resistance from Dubios) try the uppercut but ONLY from the inside. AJ landed a fight-changing punch and he could have had a chance had he not rushed in with his HANDS DOWN...then he is standing there squared up exchanging rights...who does that, especially after being clipped several times by a sequence of Dubios' counter punches in that same moment?!? Move on and build on the success, now at least you took some steam out of your opponent for a round or so. Also, I don't recall ONE SINGLE left hand punch thrown by AJ, this is just POOR preparation! Taking several CLEAN right hands from a power puncher makes it IMPOSSIBLE to win for anyone. No "up and down" movement, no "on-the-phone" defense, not even an attempt to "shoulder roll"...what was AJ's overall strategy, just stand there and lean back -- too late now but he should get rid of Ben Davison?!?

All the knowledgeable analysts now have a clear understanding of what AJ did wrong. AJ knows and said it himself, why he was unable to perform on the night is the question….and only he knows the real answer. It’s boxing, Dubois really showed up on the night and AJ landing may be two or three meaningful shots, didn’t. Dubois was just too good, I’m not even sure if a better AJ with good defense, footwork and jab beats Dubois. If something made AJ uncertain mentally you’d have to say it was Dubois. Can AJ comeback in a rematch? May be he can do better, but Dubois like Usyk may just have his number. Dubois’s energy and intensity remind me of an early Mike Tyson, not as ferocious but the intensity and willingness to go through hell to get the win is.

@@SC1W No, probably not. But this hardly is THE world heavyweight title. No way is DD going to fight a Parker, Bakole, Kabayel, Zhang, and potentially miss out on the winner of Fury Usyk. Consider, AJ’s first two defences of his IBF belt…Breazeale, and the mighty Eric Molina!!! Chisora ranked 10 with IBF. Sanchez 7, Ajagba 8. Chisora more attractive than these in Uk. It was two one sided for me i don't like seeing fights like that it should have been stopped earlier, He was hurt before the 1st round knock down, That jab Daniel has is a ko punch. AJ was never in the fight he kept taking punishment. Im not a AJ fan but i felt sorry for him, His corner should have stopped it having said that i don't like what he did to a guy who wasn't a professional boxer Francis ngannou, He was in a exhibition fight with tyson fury and he beat fury lol Anthony Joshua should have ko Francis ngannou but i don't agree with hitting him as hard as he did The guy was badly hurt and just standing after going down he had a free punch on him, And he hit the guy as hard as he could someone who couldn't defeat himself and wasn't a professional boxer. Maybe the beating was karma.

AJ is the kind of boxer who follows instructions. Hes definitely been drilling lessons from someone who isn't qualified to be a lead trainer, let alone training a former world champion cash cow. You can tell the tendencies learned from Davison. No balance, terrible hand placement, foot placement is all wrong. I cant understand how there are supposed to be so many smart people looking out for the fighters' best interest, but allow people like Ben Davison to lead them into war. When will someone speak up??
@almac9203Ай бұрын
I have seen Ben Davison doing breakdowns on Sky Sport. He knows his stuff. AJ probably didn't respect Dubois and was sloppy.
@EdwinMaldonado-ie6qnАй бұрын
@almac9203 talking and teaching someone in the moment isn't how boxing works. He's a known fraud in the boxing community. He fools everyone because he's very intelligent. Knowing how to analyze and use philosophy doesn't equate to being a boxing teacher, especially at this level. The proof is in his fighters mechanics. All wrong.
@almac9203Ай бұрын
@@EdwinMaldonado-ie6qn the mechanics of Fury were perfectly fine under his tutelage. BTW he didn't talk about philosophy on Sky Sports but instead broke down footage of fights and explained what fighters were doing correctly and what they were doing wrong. It isn't his fault if AJ threw out the game plan after getting clocked. It should also be noted that no method is perfect. As AJ said, when you roll the dice sometimes it doesn't pay off.
@EdwinMaldonado-ie6qnАй бұрын
@almac9203 he didn't teach Tyson anything. He was just a friend who Tyson put in the spotlight and helped with his institute. Tyson trains himself. He has you all fooled, and this is why he'll continue to ruin careers because most people today don't understand boxing. Sugar Hill works with Tyson usually for 2 weeks before his fights. Tyson trained himself ever since his uncle left him. You gotta know the history and understand what you see to know Ben is horrible for the sport.
