Handpumps with saltwater. All a toilet needs to function is enough water to prime the siphon. all that takes is a bucket. Try pouring a large pot of water into yours at home.

Even though this movie was flop and Kevin Costner almost but not entirely disappeared, I really enjoyed this movie as a kid when my folks got it on VHS. Dennis Hopper did a wonderful job aswell.

It was the most expensive movie made up to that time but just couldn't turn a profit on theatrical release despite being one of the best grossing films of the year. Audiences liked it but the studio wasn't happy and Costner, as leading man and one of the producers lost some credibility for a while

He directed and produced another dystopian future scifi movie, 'The Postman' two years later and it bombed hard at the box office and that probably did him more harm. He has continued to appear in major roles and produced/directed in good movies like Thirteen Days and Open Range.

They actually explained this in the movie. Since having the ability to breathe underwater, is considered taboo by many people as that means you’re not human. This also means you have an unfair advantage to scrounge up valuables from the sea floor, making you able to get more rich by the sale of dirt. Basically, you would be in the minority and would be treated as unnatural by the people, leading to them to take drastic measure ls against you.

I never noticed but Kevin Costner is essentially the highly acclaimed version of Keanue Reeves. He has one tempo and it’s chill af. But it’s never a particularly engaged performance, more just the same style every show.

Though 'the mariner' is the hero of the film, i can't help but think how many hundreds of people he killed (not just the smoker raiders, but everyone, including the families and workers on the ship). I mean he just killed hundreds and hundreds of people. Hmmmm. Best not to think too much on that detail. LOL.

That's Waterworld. He probably did. The Drifter feels like Joel from Last of us on the water. Enola is probably the first kid to actively taunt him and antagonize him, which is why she became his friend because he respects her guts in Waterworld.
