Ok, so Highlight is like one of my top (if not the top) groups so let me give you the lowdown. Members left to right: Doojoon: leader, lead rapper, vocalist Yoseob: main vocalist (holds the record for most idol wins on Masked Singer with 8 wins, tied for 2nd place in the entire show) Gikwang: main dancer, lead vocalist Dongwoon, lead vocalist, maknae. Beast debuted in 2009 with Bad Girl (the songs from the 1st album make them cringe...they did not write them other than Junhyung wrote his raps). They had two more members at the time: Hyunseung (vocalist) and Junhyung (main rapper). The members started to participate in writing and producing 2010 and 2011 so you start to see them really develop their style around 2012. Junhyung wrote and produced most of their music along with his best friend as a duo (Good Life). Funny that you say Yoseob reminds of Eunkwang because they were BTOB's sunbaes in Cube. Hyunseung left the group in April of 2016, Beast released their last album as Beast in July called Highlight...which sounds familiar! They left Cube in December, created their own company called, "Around Us" and rebranded themselves as "Highlight" named after their last album. Which I will say is my #1 kpop album of all time. There are no skips. They released their debut album as Highlight in 2017, called "Can You Feel It" with the lead single "Plz Don't Be Sad." Junhyung left the group in 2019. And all of the members served in the military and Highlight was in hiatus 2019-2020 with one ep being released in 2019 without the leader as he was already enlisted (his vocals are on the album but he couldn't promote the album). "The Blowing" the song you liked is their first single back after enlistment! They have a lot of albums: 4 studio albums and 13 eps. Plus, 1 Japanese studio album and literally every other release having a Japanese version. The reason why Highlight can perform Beast music is because technically only the name "Beast" is copyrighted by Cube and Cube refused to give them the name. Cube did NOT treat them well and so fans were very happy when they left. But a lot of the music was written and produced by members so they own a lot of it. I would assume the other songs (the ones they rarely perform) they just don't earn royalties on but can perform them.

oh man, I LOVE that Highlight Killing Voice video, BEAST was such a huge group for me and they're still so special to me as Highlight, so their Killing Voice was incredibly nostalgic Yoseob (second from the left, the tiny one) is their remaining main vocalist as you guessed, and he's one of the most well known voices of that generation. he's probably most well known for that CRAZY note in Breath (they had it in Korean as 숨), and he's said that during concerts he tries to make the note longer and longer every time so he really is that crazy good 😂also random fact, he's known for his very tiny face haha but as you noticed, they're ALL incredibly strong vocalists. I believe Dujun (the first one) took over the rap parts of their main rapper who left, so I don't think he rapped as much before, but he was always very consistent and reliable as a vocalist like he is here. he was also the first to come back from the military, so he released a solo album while he was waiting for everyone else lol. Gikwang (3rd) might have been your favorite, he's their main dancer which is probably why he remembers all the choreo, and Dongwoon (4th, your Lee Know lookalike lol) is their giant maknae, and he's always just had such a nice clean tone in terms of their sound, it's been really interesting watching them because of course they debuted with very strong, "BEASTly" songs in the beginning as their concept, but their vocal abilities really shone through more and more as their discography progressed and you can see how it all shifted as they went along. also they were just a part of the very heavily electronic movement of 2nd gen groups, I don't think anyone could escape that back then haha they're actually all out of the military though! they all went pretty much all at once, I think so they could all come back in 2020 one after the other as Highlight! and it's been so, SO good to have them back 🥰💞 anyways this comment is already wayyy too long, but I love ALL of these groups so this was a really fun marathon, I love that you were able to get to VICTON's May Day, and I ADORE VeriVery's Lay Back and Thunder, I was obsessed with Lay Back the second I heard it, and Thunder is up there as one of my other favorite title tracks from them :) btw, VeriVery is SUPER well known for how synchronized they can be, I know there's a lot of content out there to get to but if it ever comes up in requests or something, their dance practices are *chefs kiss*, very satisfying to watch 😉

You asked about Highlight's music style. Well, as you could tell from this video, their are quite versatile. They started out synth based and dancy, they also have some party anthems as well as happy tunes but what they are most well known for are those lowkey nostalgic songs and balladish songs. They are great at evoking emotions in their singing. Also yes, they were doing part of the choreos throughout the video. And that's impresive, they recetly really must have done some choreo recap cause they are quite known for always forgetting their dance routines like Infinite and Suju lmao.

Highlight has only four members left: From left to right Dujun (leader), Yoseob (main vocal), Gikwang (main dancer), and Dongwoon (maknae). Beast had 6 but Hyunseung left to focus on his solo career in 2016- shortly after the rest of the members left Cube Ent. and started their own company. Junhyung left in 2019 because of his (all be it minor) involvement in a scandal.

Highlight/Beast known as all members can sing beautifully even their rapper (ex member). In Highlight, all of them will pass as main vocal if they're in other group but Yoseob (second from the left) is another level, so he is their main vocal. If you think he's already good, don't be surprise if I say he still taking vocal class until now even after debuted more than 12 years. And that cream sweater guy is Lee Gikwang, (main dancer, lead vocal) has very distinct, quite nasal yet rich voice. And yes, he added color to their songs with his unique voice. TMI: Quite a lot of companies rejected them so they're called 'recycle group' when they're debuting under Cube in 2009 and hit big at Korea one year after with Mystery. They're first group that are not from Big3 (JYP, SM, YG) to win Daesang award in 2011. Imagine losing big talents like them.

Ribbon was the lead single of Highlight, their last album as Beast in 2016. When they didn’t renew with Cube when their contact ended in October 2016, they formed their own agency Around Us Entertainment, but found out Cube had trademarked the “Beast” name. They tried to negotiate with Cube to use the name, but when Cube announced it would continue Beast with a new set of members, the guys decided to stop the negotiation and renamed themselves Highlight. In March 2017 they “debuted” with Plz Don’t Be Sad which became the first big hit of the year by a boy band and achieved for Highlight the most successful rebranding in K-pop history.

hello! i just saw this and i absolutely love the fact that you actually reacted to highlight 🥺✨ so basically highlight was beast since 2009 and they debuted as highlight in 2017 after leaving cube and having their own agency in 2016. they had six members at first and then five (left in 2016) and now four (left in 2019). their music as beast was a little bit darker and grittier with a lot of r&b influence. as highlight, they still keep that r&b influence but their songs are brighter and lighter. of course this stemmed from their title songs and not the albums as a whole. they do a variety of genres and you won't be disappointed! all members are solo artists as well and they're actually all vocalists! the main rapper left in 2019 so highlight is now a vocal kpop group. dujun (the one on the left) was actually a lead rapper during the early debut years but he's mostly on vocals after haha. i hope you can react to more highlight anyways! who knows you'll join our lil fandom family 🥺✨

Due to some unfortunate events, only 4 members are left in the group. - They can sing their old songs because the composers mainly Shinsadong Tiger allowed them to, plus Junhyung(former member and main rapper) participated in writing those songs as he writes his own rap. Plus from 2013, Junhyung/Good Life became their producer/composer. Unfortunately, for the recent comeback, we're never able to have Good Life - Highlight music again. - Their debut album as Highlight is Can You Feel It. Title track is Plz don't be sad. - Highlight is their last album as Beast. They decided to name their group as this. - You're right. 2nd to the left is the main vocal. 😊 Then after him is the main dancer. I think one reason Keonhee's voice feels "warm" is that Leedo and Seoho, when singing, both have more of a "pure" tone whereas Keonhee has more "depth" in his tone ;o So 808 came out in like December 2019, and their first Japanese release was actually a Japanese version of "Twilight" which was around summer of 2019. Oh, haha, speaking of "Don't Wanna Cry", Oneus did perform that in their MAMA 2019 covers performance XD Can definitely recommend Victon's "Howling" and "Nostalgic Night", those were the releases where they really started to blow up after years of going under the radar, and they've stuck to a more similar vibe for their title tracks since then :o Heh, 21 minutes of killing voice just goes to show what a storied discography Highlight has :') They really were one of the biggest acts of 2nd-gen K-pop, not just in Korea but in Japan and internationally! Honestly, I thought they couldn't perform their Beast songs (and in particular, profit of those royalties for example), so I was very pleasantly surprised to see them perform their Beast songs again! And just to reaffirm, Beast started with 6 members, lost 1 when transitioning to Highlight, lost another due to a scandal, and then the 4 remaining members went to the military and when they returned they released "Not the End", so you've got the right events but just a bit muddied :) Fun fact, Shinsadong Tiger (who produced EXID and Tri.be) is responsible for a good number of Beast hits, including "Fiction", "Beautiful", "Breath", and "Shock" ;o Well, 2nd-gen groups were built "vocals first" with "choreo second" after all, quite a different era compared to nowadays where the choreo is a very important aspect if not even more important than the vocals ;o Also, "man in the cream sweater" (Kikwang) is the main dancer so it's not that surprising he would remember the choreo XD The trilogy is really so good, and marked a change in Golden Child's sound from more bright to dark with a lot of interesting synth sounds. iirc "One" even has some synths that call back to "Wannabe" and "Without You" (and I just noticed all 3 songs start with a "w" sound lol). As a large group, Golden Child's choreo really shines when they make dynamic and interesting "large group formations", and unfortunately in RTK they never really put that strength of theirs to use. :/ Verivery is such an underrated group as they always put out bops, but they're also not afraid to go against the current of what other groups are doing (as seen in RTK, performing their own B-side instead of a past title track, and having a bright concept final song). They're known for their super synchronised dancing too! A fun fact is that the mirrored dancing in the MV isn't just mirrored, they actually learned how to dance their mirrored choreo for this MV ;o Oh man I haven't heard "Thunder" in so long and I just loved hearing it again! That's partly because Verivery just kept pumping out comebacks after that XD

yup highlight have rights to ALL their songs including songs from beast era. as far as i know... so they dont have any problem to sing those everywhere.. idk if they deal it with cube or anything.. another reasons probably because most of their songs were wrote & composed of former highlight/beast member junhyung... but cube also has right to use their song to remake for ost purpose etc from whats i understand

Thank you so much for including HIghlight's Killing Voice. Their concept... it varies, but what made them known to the whole South Korea is their voices and live performances. Even their Bside tracks are so pleasing. Everyone can sing and is a main vocal standard if you put them in other groups. You could check out their other MVs too. One (Lucid Dream) is a MASTERPIECE and one of my favorite songs of 2020. I don't think I can properly explain how much I love that song lmao Three Verivery songs down, and two more to go in the storyline so far! I'm not gonna write out a really long comment trying to explain stuff this time because no sense in overloading you with that info + someone else can probably explain it better than me :) Now I'm excited for you to check out the next two next month! I will however say with Lay Back, things to notice are that it starts off with Kangmin blindfolded, and he was the one standing in the pool blindfolded at the end of Tag x3 as well! Another thing with Lay Back is you were pretty close with the mirror images thing, because that is important, but it expands on the "others"/body double thing that started in Tag x3 and will continue to be important through the rest of the story~

VICTON is one of the 2016 rookies that I look forward to alongside with PENTAGON, ASTRO N SF9.... I think I really have a soft spot for a group that debuted in 2016... Beast aka Highlight was a group that made me become a Kpopper N mostly cube entertainment artists are well known as great vocalists/rappers and self-produced idols, but yet Cube does shit to them.... and I do still stans them up until now.... So I really enjoy this video tho....

Personally I'm very picky about kpop idols singing in japanese because the difference in the way they pronounce things often makes me kind of not enjoy it. So it pleases me immensely that ONEUS sounds really smooth and not awkward since their first challenge. On top of that, I really enjoy the lyrics and the melodies! Funfact: the lyrics "I will be your cat" is written by Ravn himself! xD

Came here because of Highlight and I thought the vid is sooo long cos it's an hour but apparently you decided to react to the entire Killing Voice which is insane!! Props to you for including it in your reaction vid. Everything you said was on point and I love that you recognized Dongwoon's vocals. I remember that moment too. If I were to describe it, I was heartbroken. It literally feels like that. I was crying and my heart hurts hearing their songs. It heals slowly though. Please check out their special video Flip a Coin, Hanse had a lot more part of raps which he wrote in just 3 minutes and record in just one take. Also you might like Han Seungwoo's recent solo comeback with See You Again which he wrote and composed as a goodbye gift for his fans before his enlistment at this end of the month.

Omg I loved the way you said my name🤣 thanks for the reaction i loved it, and sorry for the long video, i promise I won't do this again haha, and yes i love Highlight so much, they're the only kpop group that i stan, some years ago I used to be into kpop a LOT, i saw some great groups debuts, like seventeen, monsta x, red velvet, twice, iKon, but after highlight went to the military I left it, there are so much reasons to love them, i feel like a grew up with them, and now as an "adult" I'm still loving them^^ Fun fact: some of the groups of these "generation" are really big fans of highlight: Victon is one of them, there's a video of them when they meet highlight and they were so anxious and happy, some ATEEZ members are big fans of them too, and also seventeen, i think it is because they grew up with them too, and toke them as their model to follow, Highlight is for sure a good group:)

Victon reminds me of an older group called VIXX, they are so talented and really should have more recognition. By the way they, Seventeen and BTS are huge Highlight fanboys 😂. For Highlight the 2nd guy from the left (main vocal) is famous as hell for how versatile his voice is. He has been a judge or trainer on plenty of musical programs, and won Masked Singer 8 times in a row earlier this year. He came under the spotlight back in 2009 when a program forgot to plug the backing track on a televised performance of "Shock" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6HdmGeYhcaeb9k ). The one you liked (cream sweater) is the main dancer and dedicated dance hole in random play dances (and kind of in general outside of when he is in performing mode, he's a confused boy). He's been on plenty of programs as a dancer, like "Why not? The dancer" with SM group members or "Dancing High". He has 4 solo songs with MVs if you want to listen to more from him: "What you like", "Lonely", "Don't close your eyes (d.c.y.e)", and "Nothing" which is my personal favorite. He's also the one who wrote "Not the End".

Highlight actually were 5, but now they’re 4 because one of them, the main rapper, left the group in 2019 because of a scandal

If I may put some things about Golden Child (which might be quite long, sorry in advance!): One (Lucid Dream) is the last of Golcha's dark trilogy, which mark their first dark concept after being known as "bright child" since debut, due to bright and refreshing concept. The trilogy: Wannabe-Without You-One is about wanting to be a perfect self (Wannabe), losing yourself in the process (Without you) and finally realizing that all along you're already your perfect self (One). The MVs doesn't seem to relate to each other, but the lyrics of each song are especially beautiful (and powerful, in a way). And you're right that One was their first comeback after RTK. Wannabe that they perform at RTK was their first dark concept and first comeback after more than a year hiatus. Their latest release was Burn It in January and promoted b-side track Breathe, but *they'll be having a comeback on 2 August!* On side note, ONF (debut mate and RTK mate) will also have a comeback on 9 Aug.

I honestly recommend looking at more Golden Child, They are so underrated and have so much talent as dancers, singers and musicians. They were a bright concept boy group for a long time but have matured to a more sexy concept now with still hints of youth. A good diversity would be Damdadi (Their debut song) Let Me (A bright concept comeback) Without You Burn it Wannabe (Start of their concept swap) Pump it Up (Their most recent kinda bright/cutesy concept songs) Ra Pam Pam (Their most recent title track as of August 8 2021) Bottom of the Ocean (An all English song in their album [Game Changer]) Also the members themselves are very unique with fun dynamics and they do quite a few individual projects. The main people you'll hear in their music are Main Vocalists : Y and Joochan Main Rappers: Jangjun and Tag You'll also probably see Bomin and Donghyun in center due to Bomin being the face and center of the group while Donghyun is main dancer. (Tho all of them are badass dancers)
