So grateful for this message on the visit of Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem at age 12. It seems that I have to go to media like KZbin to hear sermons on events in the earthly life of our LORD. Modern sermons don't seem to focus very much at all on these events, at least not the ones I've heard.

Mr. Sproul, I believe you missed a critical piece to this story. The Jews questions at that time were leading questions. At 12 years of age, Jesus, was leading these learned men to a point. He most likely was enjoying the discussion very much. What point do you think a 12 year old might want to make? There is only one topic that would make any sense and that would be that he was helping them understand the role that the Messiah would play. He was asking leading questions to help them get there. :)

That's a good hypothesis, however his parents were a good ways to their home and it was a while before they made it back to reteive him. So it could have been a lot more that he discussed with them
