Boycott Beijing Olympics over "genocide"? 2008 Tibet VS 2022 Xinjiang

Most people in the west especially those human rights activists and journalists will forget about Xinjiang just like how they forgot about Tibet. Why? Because history told me so.
Well, we all know that not only some human rights activists are boycotting the 2022 Beijing Olympics but also several countries including the US, UK and Australia have announced diplomatic boycott of the game due to the concerns of human rights abuses in Xinjiang. However, if you are old enough, you would remember that when the 2008 Summer olympics was about to be held in Beijing China, this is what happened back then...

🚨🚨The independence of the Xinjiang State of the Uighurs should be respected. And prevent the CCP from invading Xinjiang, imprisoning and gradually killing the Uighurs. The yellow-skinned, flat-nosed CCP imprisoned, murdered, and secretly killed 'White Uighurs, high-nosed' right on 'The country of the UIghurs left to them by their Ancestors'. UN, US, EU, Japan, UK, Australia... help UIGHURS people to have the independence of their Country.🇺🇸🇪🇺🇯🇵🇬🇧🇦🇺🇨🇦🇮🇳.

Hold on a second, aren't you "yellow skinned", "flat-nosed"? Mr or Ms "Ngoc Xuan"? As an Asian, it's disgraceful of being racist towards other Asians. BTW, you need to realize that no matter how hard you try to lick the boots of white supremacist, you will always be treated like a running dog.

@@alexfromxinjiang Not to get on the topic of race or racism. I am from the U.S. and we have lots of hardworking Vietnamese-Americans here. Like many immigrants from Asia, they are for the most part good people, but sometimes you'll come across such uneducated bigots just like the one mentioned. Same goes for the people of India which I've known many here and they considered themselves as NRIs. Keep doing what you do, man. Love your videos. You are no nonsense and do a lot of great content. You don't come off biased towards or against anybody and come off objective, intelligent and informative in all your content. In the United States, we are honestly inundated with skewed, biased and slanderous news about China. Its clear to see, because our government sees China as a big rival on the world stage, it will do anything it can to drum up negativity and put a negative slant towards almost anything involving China. If all else fails, they truly will just make things up; I always question any news that starts with vagaries like "Sources Say" or "Reports of" without anything specific to back it up. Honestly, they have so many Americans believing such ridiculous and backwards things about Chinese society, government, culture, media, etc......its like a telephone game effect, where something one person heard turns into a ludicrous exaggeration that has no truth behind it at all. It is funny how Americans tend to see other countries news, media, government officials as "biased" or "propaganda" and yet are oblivious to exactly, explicitly that in their own country. There were many, many misconceptions I had about modern China myself for years, ones that seem ridiculous in retrospect; but when people are immersed in it and don't bother to even question what they heard, let alone seek out information or opinions, that becomes the reality: Americans are the very "indoctrinated masses" they constantly accuse China and so many other countries of being. Someone will probably read this, and tear everything I just said down as if my point is to utterly bootlick the Chinese government; the lack of self-awareness can being amazing at times where Americans sense of moral superiority is so ingrained in them that they don't see the bullshit they fall for every day, that they are so quick to accuse others of. Obviously, I'm not in some bubble where I think all the Chinese government does is great and perfect; of course, China is as fallible as the next country/government, and their government has policies and practices I certainly do not agree with. But the vilifying and constant negativity, if not downright falsehoods, used to drum up malice towards China, which ultimately leads towards a general atmosphere of hate, gross misunderstanding, and disrespect towards Chinese culture and people, here in the USA, is nauseating once you start to wake up from it. Love your content. Its a voice to counter much of this that is important, intelligent and levelheaded.

For those who have the willingness to possess a neutral view of China, I have some facts for you Pompeo created the use of Genocide, fiction a story based on the lies come from BBC and Economist, to let you believe there should be at least assimilation. You can see from Alex's videos, that Xingjiang Uygurs are living in a harmonious society, being bilingual in their own language and Mandarine makes their career and life more convenient. such kind or similar education stuff can not be categorized in a term of Assimilation if you really try to be neutral. China actually is unbelievably implementing preferential policies to minority ethnic groups, letting the major Han ethnics think they are treated as second-class citizens. I can try to name some for you but there will be a lot more than that, 1. in the one-Child policy era, all minority ethnic was allowed to have 2 or more children, which led to the population of Uygurs boomed -on the contrary of what they reported Genocide- after the founding of the PRC. 2. in the life-most-important college entrance exam, minority ethnics will automatically add on scores. 3. they are allowed to carry controlled weaponry because they have such traditions. 4. religious freedom, of course, Han also has, everyone has, but the Han seldom needs that so-called freedom, but that is another story.

Good question about why no Uyghurs were admitted to the US. Quoting a TIME magazine article “Experts say the main reason for the lack of Uyghur refugees is logistical: it’s next to impossible for Uyghurs in China, most of whom are under extraordinary state surveillance, to access refugee resettlement systems. When Uyghurs do manage to escape to a foreign country, those countries face immense pressure from China to return would-be refugees.” Mind you, I have not independently verified this statement but it is a possible explanation for one of your questions.

As someone who lives in the US Midwest and has some (very) distant American Indian ancestry, I can have no problem admitting that the US engaged in systematic, inexcusable forms of ethnic cleansing in its history. Of course, the details are complicated, muddied by things such as who owned what and when, who broke which treaty and how, so on and so forth. But be warned; always the victor will claim they were defending themselves and sometimes they are right to do so. Sometimes though they create enemies to have an excuse to fight and so gain power. Persecute a people and you will breed extremists in their ranks, then think yourselves justified for treating them worse. And maybe you will be justified in doing so. Maybe not.

If Chinese government is that good then why didn't they give Tibet freedom back. Why these days government is trying to teach tibetan children to Chinese language and education and closing tibetan schools in Tibet. we didn't want something bad to happen to both sides we just want our country Back which we lost in 1969. We also want to tell through the world that I am from Tibet which is the country where I belong. We also want to go to our country which we didn't go in our life even that country belongs to us. Can we are asking so much to give our country Back which are belong to us. Please 🙏 don't write and say before you don't know the whole story. བོད་རང་བཙན་གཙང་མ་ཡིན་🌈

Firstly, Alex thank you for posting this. Us, KZbin watchers a very different point of view. I thought KZbin is not allowed in China, just like Baidu is restricted here. The civilians are always innocent and the civilians of each country will pay for the blunt force of the governments aggression. From the 🇺🇸

This didn't age well...the Xinjiang police files are out for the world to see. Olympics is not the most important sporting event, and the Beijing Olympics was the least watched Olympics in modern history.

Wow, you are a fool. It’s next to impossible for Uyghurs in China, most of whom are under state surveillance, to access refugee resettlement systems. When Uyghurs do manage to escape to a foreign country, those countries face immense pressure from China to return would-be refugees. Your analysis on this is so bad..
