I like your simple editing and the fact you don't have an outro for your videos. You literally say goodbye and the video ends! These videos are straight to the point, not clickbait and I like your personality. All of those factors make for pleasurable viewing. Great job!

Mikey Chen.....I have to tell you I love your videos when you travel. So far this one of Kyoto is my favorite. My dream as a child was to go to China, Taiwan, & Japan. You see, I don't walk anymore & it's difficult for me to travel.This is the next best thing. So I thank you. By the way you do look a bit like Jackie Chan.

Another great video Mike. I'm very passionate about traveling, there's nothing I want more than to see the world... But due to the fact that I'm a fairly poor guy I don't get to travel often lol, so I love you're travel vlogs because its the closest I can come to seeing other countries at the time. I always get a bit jealous but Japan is at the top of my list so Im reallly loving all the Japanese videos. You live an amazing life Mike, congratulations to you on that.

FYI, the area you went to Gion, is adjacent to Kiyamachi, Kyoto's red light district. Hence the "seedy" vibe at night.
@MsCherade98 жыл бұрын
mehdan2 Precisely. Always check where the red light district is in a new city and stay away, unless that's what you are looking for. That goes double when you don't speak the language!

I used to live in Kyoto, went to school there in my early 20s, this really brings back nice memories of Kyoto. Best way to get around, it by bike. Had a mountain bike then and went to see so many cool temples and shrines. Good nightlife area, is Kawaramachi, yes there are quite many Yakuza in Kyoto but they don't bother you, especially if you are a foreigner.

I love Kyoto! I've been twice and would go back in a heartbeat. It has such a wonderful atmosphere, although yeah, it's not the greatest at night. If you want a really cool shrine, try Fushimi Inari Taisha in southern Kyoto with its path lined in torii gates. It's amazing. And yeah, the food in Japan is amazing! I'm so jealous of what you ate, haha! Visit Osaka if you want a foodie's dream.

Wish China preserved as much culture as Japan... :( cultural revolution destroyed huge parts of it...
@akeenrunner8 жыл бұрын
Culture is not only preserved in relics and historical sites. As a nation with thousands of years of history, China is one of the most influential countries in the world, so despite what happened in the Culture Revolution, its culture is preserved in its people and their lives. As long as they live, the culture lives on.
@radioclash848 жыл бұрын
Maggie Cui not really actually. I'm a left leaning person and I think the communist revolution was necessary but it also did a lot of damage to the history of China. its like saying the pyramids lie in the hearts of every Egyptian but the monument itself is destroyed. these things do hold importance. I think the communist revolution did go a bit overboard.

The most recent holiday was the coming-of-age day on January 9. On that day, 20 years old girls would wear what's called a Furisode, a type of kimono. For guys, well, it is now less common for them to wear special clothes...
