Hi Simon! I love this song! I'm pretty new to playing... Weirdly, I can get the riffs but I can't quite figure out what you're doing for the chords... how are you getting that sound, please? From 1:43
@SimonMorelguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi Bryant, there's some slight overdrive, but the main part of the sound comes from the palm muting of the strings. Do you know how to do that? Palm muting on the guitar is a technique that involves lightly resting the fleshy part of your picking hand (palm) on the strings near the bridge of the guitar, while you play notes or chords with your other hand. This technique is used to create a muted or percussive sound, and it's commonly used in rock, metal, and punk music to create a chugging or chunky rhythm guitar sound. Here's how to palm mute on the guitar: Position your picking hand over the bridge of the guitar, so that your palm lightly rests on the strings. You can use the fleshy part of your palm or the side of your hand to mute the strings. Play a note or chord with your fretting hand while keeping your picking hand in place. The sound should be muted, with a dull or percussive quality. Adjust the pressure of your picking hand on the strings to change the level of muting. If you press too hard, you'll completely silence the strings, while if you don't press hard enough, you won't get enough muting. Practice playing different rhythms and patterns with palm muting to get a feel for how it works. You can also try combining palm muting with other techniques like alternate picking or strumming to create different sounds and textures. Palm muting can be a bit tricky to master at first, but with practice, you can use it to add a lot of depth and variety to your playing. Hope that helps, for 2 new videos every week, please do subscribe and hit the bell for notifications. Cheers Simon
